Looking for a good horror game for the console, these two came to mind.

Alan Wake is a great game...but if you are looking for pure horror, Dead Space was way more scary.

I think the Condemned series is generally considered to be the best scary gaming on Xbox.

According to this study using SCIENCE (well, kind of) Dead space2 was scarier than Alan Wake.

Personally I vote either one, I thoroughly enjoyed Dead space 1 and 2 (although 3 was more Aliens, less Alien), as well as Alan Wake (and the DLC Alan Wake's American nightmare). I also second Bioshock 1, that game had some awesome moments.

I have Bioshock and it didn't scare me at all. It was cool and fun as hell, just not scary to me.

Is Amnesia: The Dark Descent on Xbox? If it is, get it.

Alan Wake was fantastic, it is what Inception could/should have been.

I'll try Dead Space next

I played the first when it was on PC years ago, bullet time was cool but I wasn't all that scared by it. In your expert opinion is Dead Space > FEAR?

Personally I definitely enjoyed Dead Space more than FEAR. Especially Dead Space 1 and 2. Dead Space 3 was much more action, much less horror. But 1 and 2, in the right lighting with the sound turned up enough, really reminded me of Event Horizon, which I also enjoyed.
