Release Date: March 11, 2014

Quote:
Dark Souls II features gameplay mechanics similar to its predecessor; co-director Tomohiro Shibuya has stated that he has no intention of changing the controls. Covenants, a feature in Dark Souls that allowed the player to align with different factions, are making a reappearance, though they will be easier to understand and more accessible to the player. The game world is going to be roughly twice the size of Dark Souls with the beginning of the game made more accessible to newcomers. Tanimura also confirmed that the game will retain the challenging gameplay known to the series, "We do not plan on having an Easy Mode since we are creating this game with a thought that challenge and difficulty are core elements of the game.”

The development team has cited utilizing a more powerful graphics engine for the sequel that is currently being showcased in gameplay trailers. Gameplay videos have shown several new features, including deflecting weapons in mid-air, destructible environments, optional bosses that remain docile until antagonized by the player, among other features. New challenges, adding to the series' documented difficulty level, have also been shown. The game will feature a more advanced AI system that allows enemies to react to a wider range of actions by the player.

That's okay, man, you have 5 months! Enjoy the game, the next one is going to be much harder.

If you didn't start with the Master Key you should probably reroll and do that :)

Edit - and if you get stuck on the first boss you can join Screeling in being a pansy

if you mean the Taurus demon, I agree... if you mean the Capra demon: seriously f**k that guy.

I am a demon with a pair of HUGE swords in a 10x15 room....and there are two other mobs here with me. SUCK IT *****!

Yeah, talking about Taurus.

Capra is super easy to cheese if you run up the little ledge and drop down on top of him.

Shut up, fart-knocker. I put in my time as we agreed. Not even one in the ten or so hours I played were fun.

and I hope the online play is present. I enjoyed that system.

"hrm, I need a crap ton of souls to level... lets out out side of the Colloseum in the Artorius of the Abyss content and help people."

Dark Souls has become my absolute favorite game of all time. I LOVE the fact that it is SO unforgiving.

I'm still working my way through DS1. I'm up to Ornstein and Smough, for those who know who they are.

If you want to give yourself one of the tougher challenges in the game, kill Smough first. Ornstein's soul will let you make the only spear in game with scaling lightning damage, and you'll also be able to pick up a ring after the fight that you can't get any other way.

And lets not forget how awesome Ornstein's armor is...

Also that. Probably the coolest looking armor set in game.

I'm with Screeling on this ;)

This just doesn't look fun to me, as much as I've watched my friends play.

Bump, game releases in a few days.

I am 10 hours in and it's extremely difficult, though I think I started off in the wrong area...

I have two suggestions for beginning:
Spoiler:
Suicide run through Heide's Tower of Flame to lower the drawbridge (to your left when you first enter the area) so you can get the ring to increase hollow hp. Then go to the Forest of Fallen Giants, definitely the easiest area to start in.

Almost 30 hours in, game is so addicting. I have 6 or 7 big boss souls now but still haven't unlocked the ability to use them. So much to do.

I'm so envious of you right now Lenas. I only have a PC and no consoles so I have to wait another 6 freekin' weeks to play it. I don't know why Namco couldn't have pulled off a simultaneous console/PC release. It's basically been impossible for me to avoid watching bits and pieces of streams of the game, so I've spoiled some minor things but I'm trying to avoid the big stuff.

I am over SL 100 now and somewhere around 55 hours, apparently ~65% through, game is destroying my life. What day is it?
