The final game in a 28 year franchise came out two days ago, I've spent a few hours in the world and it is spectacular, definitely the best looking game I have ever played on a console. Mechanics are solid and the storyline so far is crazier than I could have hoped. If you are a fan of the series, don't miss it. The open world of this game and riding a horse around Afghanistan really makes it feel like Red Dead Metal Gear, which I think many of you will love.

Available at 60fps on PS4 (1080p) / Xboner (1600x900), 20-30fps on last gen, and apparently stellar performance on PC.

Reviews:
Greatest stealth game ever made
• Undoubtedly the best Metal Gear game there is
• A legend worth waiting for
• Time disappears when this game and I are together, and I never want it to end.

SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!

Had to get a new video card, and this came with it. Glad to hear it looks good (I've not played the franchise before); holding off because the weather has been so incredibly nice lately, and I know Winter is Coming.

I'm about 5 hours in, and it truly is a playable movie. Also, I'm under 5% done, so good lord this game must be gigantic.

So far, amazing and weird stuff. And running great on PC!

Here's something I wish I'd known when I started the game: (no story spoilers)

Spoiler:
Everybody wants a puppy, especially one that will grow up to one day become the best situational-awareness Buddy a bionic ninja stealth commando could want. To find D-Dog, head to the landing site north of the Spugmay Keep in free roam mode after a few missions, or during missions like Episode 04: C2W. Arrive in the daytime and wander around a little listening for barking. The little guy will run right up to you. Fulton him out. When you return to Mother Base he'll be waiting. Make friends with him and keep checking on him every few missions. Eventually he'll grow large enough to start joining you on missions where his awesome senses will make sure you always know where enemies are nearby.

I was lucky and D-Dog was barking at me right as I landed for a mission. Didn't even have to look, but I'm still waiting for him to grow!

Also smart to do early:

Spoiler:
The side op mission for extracting a russian interpreter. You can't get any interrogation information without completing this one, so it should be considered required

Yeah, I missed the dog and had to go back and get him, but that one I happened to do immediately, HUGE benefit. Another thing I found helpful immediately was the idroid upgrade that allows scanning. No more blind capturing.

I still have to play ground zeros.

My brother said the same thing. You don't have to, really. You get some bonuses in MGSV, but none of them are game-changers. Ground Zeroes itself really only shows the mission that puts Boss where he is when you start The Phantom Pain.

If you already have it, play it... If you don't have it, you probably shouldn't pay for it.

I picked it up on steam sale for under $10

Also, holy crap, the Fulton might be my favorite in game item since the gravity gun. Every single time a sheep or bird or hostage goes WHEEEEEEEE it cracks me up. Got the 2nd level upgrade, I'm stealing trucks and anti aircraft guns now too. Military is showing up like "... wasn't there a base here before?"

Also, would it have killed them to let you save when you use the quick travel? I have set myself back hours by going from mission point to mission point and then having something go wrong. "Oh yeah, we didn't save when you traveled, so we're going back to the first checkpoint... of the whole mission."
