Wow. Who'd have thunk blizzard would fall so far off our collective radar that the conclusion of the StarCraft franchise would come without anyone even noticing? Anyway. I πr8ed it to play the single player campaign. Arrr, I had to know how it ended, right? Besides, this is a protoss campaign, and it has corsairs. It's the same old game, same polished gameplay, gorgeous graphics, and addictive characters and story, this time focusing on my favorite race from the game. It was worth the time spent playing it. The ending truly felt like an ending: Satisfying emotionally, and very, very final. Nice job, Blizzard. But will I buy it? I just can't see myself sitting there at a PC playing CPU skirmishes over and over again, and online play for StarCraft has been a joke ever since South Korea turned it into their national religion. So no. Blizzard gets no more money from me. |

Your assessment of "will you buy it" is why I didn't bother, either. And I didn't finish the Zerg campaign because even Kerrigan can't make me care enough about the story to actually play Zerg for twenty-some missions or whatever. And I've never cared about *any* of the Protoss characters. So, there's your answer. They split up their story into "three" games, and I lost interest halfway through the second. Kind of the way it works out for popular book-to-movie franchises that want to milk an extra ticket or two out of fans, and unnecessarily split their single book source material into two or three movies of their own by deciding to give exactly zero **** about editing or, worse, adding their own material to a story they barely comprehend in the first place. |

I bought SC2 when it first came out. Played the first level, didn't like my computer setup at the time for an RTS, and put the game away. Never picked it up again. RIP Starcraft, the lust ran out. |

Fifteen to twenty years later, Blizzard just doesn't have the right combination of people on the project to make something special. |

I had the same problem with the Zerg campaign, especially once Kerrigan re-zergified herself. I still need to finish it. I will probably get to this at some point. Since I had bought both of the previous collector's editions I did try out PvP during beta; it did have some interesting changes - most notably that the stage of "you have 5 workers and a base and that's it" goes much, much faster due to added asssets, and of course the selection of new units. I do like SC2 PVP every now and then but I'm not willing to practice the hours it would take to get above high silver-low gold. If I'm going to spend that kind of time playing I'll either play Skrim/Fallout where I can save what I've accomplished or play EVE. Actually, these days its pretty much EVE. It's truly enjoyable to be part of the superpower coalition everyone rages against on reddit. |

I blasted through HotS and all but the epilogue of LotV over the Christmas break. I did pay for these, but got pretty good deals on them. I found the Protoss campaign very enjoyable, and will probably spend some more time with it on my next break. I really like how you could reverse your upgrade decisions. The Terran campaign was frustrating in that regard. Med school is killing me so I don't usually get much time for games anymore. :-\ |
