Its... Mass Effect... but New.

And to quote the trailer: "This is... incredible."

Also, ME2 and 3 are now backward compatible for the XBone.

Just FYI - ME3 co-op runs great in back-compat. Still as fun as ever.

It does! No slowdown or anything.

However I am incredibly out of practice.

That is great news after the initial reports of extreme slowdown on ME1 backwards compat.

Also, Andromeda looks amazing. I didn't realize how ready I am to go back to that universe, even after the ME3 ending mess.

Think I'm gonna get back to that renegade playthrough I started on BC now...

It was a wonderful game (other than... well you know). Definitely worth a play through.

You play on PC. You can very easily get the game and install MEHEM to get a proper ending to the game.

I bought and played these well in advance of PC release, but that just solidified that I'm buying the PC trilogy next time it comes up on sale. Nice!

Yeah man. I played a modded version of ME3 and it was niiiiiiice. Took forever to do the initial load, but ran great after that.

Supposedly the engine being used for Andromeda will make it hard for mods. But they always say that and people find a way.

Honestly, the only thing that's kept me from re-buying it up until now is EA and their ridiculous DLC schemes. I kept hoping for a GOTY edition with all the DLC, but alas, it's all still full retail price. Andromeda is already up for purchase, with 59, 69, and 99 dollar versions. /YaaayEA

It actually has more to do with Origin than anything else. They'll sell you the base game for $6 but they never discount the DLC. PS4 and Xbox have had sales on ME3 DLC, not sure why Origin won't. The only way you can get it cheaper is to find a deal on Origin credits.

That's why I said screw it and just pirated it. You can have two installs: the pirated, modded version with all DLC and the vanilla game that works through Origin and will let you get online to do multiplayer (with free multiplayer DLC).

And it was always cool having better textures and different models. The last one had some pretty sick armor for Garrus a cool texture on Shep's armor. Even without mods, the game looked way better on PC. I just missed having controller support.

And FYI - you can hack yourself a few million multiplayer credits on PC without repercussions. They don't actively look for cheating anymore.

I won't buy anything that requires me to purchase DLC separately. When I buy a game, i want the whole game.

If I can manage to customize a starting point for a pirate version, I might play sometime. Need a new gaming PC first.

And I don't do multiplayer.

Downloaded the "Trial" 10 hour version today.

I can't wait for Tuesday.

Looking forward to your review.

Everything I've seen outside of combat is looking pretty bad unfortunately.

That's hilarious, Lenas.

It's like they rolled down into the uncanny valley, and rather than try to hike out on either side, they started fracking there to dig even deeper.

Weird facials aside...

So far, its undeniably Mass Effect.
Galaxy SPanning Threat? Check.
Planetary travel with "scanning" minigame? Check.
Fix people's problems you just met? Check.
Kaidan/Ashley? Checkish.
Awesome Ships? Check.
Snarky dialogue options? Check.

I'm ~3 hours in, and it feels like I never left this 'verse.

That said:
Yes, the facial animations and "puppetry" are... off. Slightly. Its.... definitely uncanny. ;)
The cover system will take some getting used to. Especially coming from The Division.

I went ahead and signed up for a month of EA Access. 5 Bucks to try it out, and there's some back catalog stuff on there I wanted to play as well. If I do decide to pick it up, the 10% discount pays for the month, so I guess that works. Glad to hear they nailed the tone, at least.

Story I read today said facial animation issues won't be resolved with the impending Day 1 patch. Epic fail. Should be interesting to see how hard reviewers rip the game over this.

Made it through the content of the "Trial" (Which consists of the "tutorial", getting to the "citadel", and getting your "normandy"(Which is underselling that a LOT. Its an awesome moment), and 2 different side systems, then the first "story" planet up to a certain point.

Combat is fun. Story is engaging, "crew" are pretty standard BioWare fare. 5 hours in, I'm enjoying it. There's no way I'd let some janky facial expressions put me off.

I finished the trial story (5hrs) as well. Same experience as mus. I will absolutely be buying this.

Hopefully the ending doesn't pull the rug out from under us again.
