Every now and then I get game concepts that seem amusing, but that there isn't time to run at either the table, or over OpenRPG. So far I'm 0/2 on these, though. Scion was so promising, but it died after the first thread. It was rather difficult getting non-Glade blood to check regularly.

I've also been wanting to give Google Wave a try for running an online game. It seems like a nice mix between a pbp and a pbem. If there's interest, I'll start cooking up a campaign. If not, I'll wait until something else starts to brew in the old brain box. Lately I've been getting my jollies with White Wolf and Savage Worlds products. They're simple, fun, and I've found it's easier to divorce players and myself from the mindset of being an x-level party.

This particular idea was born from brainstorming new plotlines for the Exalted game I run on Sunday nights. Here is the initial premise.

There is a being who assisted in the creation of the world that is the very definition of debase, wicked, and corrupt. He is a Very Bad Guy. To put it bluntly, he is a total dick. At some point in the past, whether personally or through a minion, this Very Bad Guy **** your mom. The specifics, if there are any, I leave up to the player. Perhaps your mom was a demon cultist who went for that sort of thing. Perhaps your mom was duped into thinking this Very Bad Guy was her husband (the Very Bad Guy is sneaky like that). Perhaps the Very Bad Guy simply happened upon your mother and proceeded to engage in Very Bad Guy acts, in which your mother was an unwilling participant. Perhaps you are Very Unhappy about all this. Perhaps you are Blissfully Ignorant. All that is important is that it Happened.

The party needs to have a common thread to tie everyone together, after all. You may wonder why it is so imperative that this Terrible Thing happened to your mother. Well, the ways of fate and destiny are often incomprehensible to mortals. Suffice to say, you were all collateral damage in a cosmic struggle that was Too Big For You, at least, until the day you changed in ways no one could predict.

So anyway, something Very Bad happened to you. (Did you think the Very Bad Guy **** your mother because he thought she deserved sweet lovin' and a box of chocolates?) Perhaps it was more than just your mother being violated. Maybe the Very Bad Guy also set fire to your teddy bear. Merciful gods! Why do these terrible things happen to you? This Very Bad Guy was involved in creating the very gods themselves. Why did he pick poor little you to torment? What did you ever do to him that could have possibly earned his attention and his wrath?

Absolutely nothing at all. He just singled you out of the crowd to make you suffer because he's a dick. He has no redeeming qualities. He is a Villain. His reasons are simple. Pure. You were happy, and he wanted to ruin that for you. Forever.

You've also inherited the power that once killed him.

Alternatively, perhaps you belonged to a cult that worshiped him, and thus, were his to toy with as he saw fit.

Either way, you still inherited the power that once killed him.

As an aside, if it were the deciding factor, I have Wave invites I can dole out.

Thus far, I seem to have two takers. Anyone else?
