Has anyone else picked this one up? They love making their skag bosses ungodly difficult, and the badass weapons you've collected might as well be pea shooters. I'm stuck on Skagzilla at the moment. Otherwise, it's a fairly compelling Diablo-FPS hybrid with a quirky sense of humor. I thought I would hate the animation style, but I actually have come to like it. Just wish there were more random missions to help build $$ and EXP. Oh, and lots of guns . . . lots and LOTS of guns! |

Animal bosses are always difficult unless you know their weak spot. Also, (most of) the animal bosses -are- random missions. Not plot. >_> |

Just got done with a session on this myself. Picked it up yesterday with some christmas money I got. I've been enjoying it, lots of fun so far. Haven't done any multi player yet though, going to try that soon. Skagzilla has the same weak point all the skaags do, his open mouth. When he does the jump move at you, jump so the shockwave doesn't hit you. When he goes to do that beam from his mouth thing, unload in his mouth (lolz), you should get a whole bunch of crits rattling off. Shouldn't take too long to drop him, a few rounds of that will work. A decent rocket launcher will do the job as well, without having to worry about the mouth part. |

I played it but lost interest when quests ramped up in difficulty and I had no good way to level up. Used console command for god mode and got even more bored. |

We had a Borderlands thread a while ago: here It's fun, but like pretty much every other game, I played for a while before sticking it on the shelf. Many of the boss fights can be frustrating until they reach easy difficulty. |

It's more fun w/ other people. Better weapon drops that way too. The DLC that dropped recently is good as well. Both the end bosses are very disappointing though. |

I got this for Christmas, been enjoying it so far. I took out Skagzilla with a lot of jumping around to avoid him, and unloading at any opportunity I got. |

WTH -- I searched for "Borderlands," "lands," and "border" and no other thread came up. Oh well . . . Anyway, gotten pretty far (I assume) and there are som brutal fights (friggin Crimson soldiers). I also found a little trick to animal bosses -- look at the weapon reward that the kill quest gives you, and that's the type of weapon that is most effective. At least, in the cases I have seen so far. Enjoying it, other than some minor interface issues. |

I just beat the game first playthrough last night. Was a little disappointed at the difficulty over all; the first 5-10 levels were good, the rest was a breeze for the most part. The game gets easier and easier as you go along. The last boss was the first thing that I felt could kill me since about level 10. I had a ridiculous SMG that I found though, it literally tore through everything. Did like 56 x2 damage, was crazy accurate (96%+) and had a 2.7x scope on it. Also has about double the normal clip size and a fast reload. I would phasewalk right up next to a boss and then just unload a clip into their head/weak spot, usually could kill most of them without having to reload. The ending was pretty horrible, though it wasn't the best story ever anyways. Spoiler: |

Hit 50 a few days ago, and have been doing some weapon leveling and chest farming. So far it really seems like the only thing orange means is that you don't get them very often compared to the other colors. Of the 20+ orange weapons I've seen, only 2 of them I've actually considered using, and one of those was a lvl 20 weapon that I used for a few levels. Rarity colors really seem to be out of whack by a lot. I've yet to see a shotgun that's anywhere near as good as the blue lvl 44 one that I have right now, and have had bad luck finding any rocket launchers that are better than green in rarity. Most of the orange weapons, even the lvl 48 ones, are outclassed completely by some blues and many purples. The game sorely needs an upgrade system of some kind as well. I'd bet we'll see something in the sequel if it ever comes around. |

This just in, level cap increasing to 69 for free: Gearbox wrote: At the Gearbox panel at PAX today, company president Randy Pitchford told a Borderlands-loving audience that the level cap for that game will be going up from 61 to 69. For zero dollars. "The level cap will now be 69," Pitchford said. "That's the magic number." He said the cap will come out close to the late-October release of the Borderlands Game of the Year edition. Pitchford said that the studio felt that they couldn't go up a full 11 levels, as they did through the paid downloadable content, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, because they didn't want to put another level cap increase in paid DLC. The way that Borderlands DLC is structured, he said, would have required that anyone who would want to get the new level cap from new paid DLC would have had to buy all of the previous Borderlands DLCs as well. No good. Pitchford said Gearbox wanted all players to enjoy this raise of the level cap. The studio also decided that a cap raise of just five levels would be too small. So Gearbox settled on eight, which gets the level up to 69, for all those who have the Knoxx DLC. "69." The crowd laughed. The eight-level increase will be offered in a free patch for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 players. The patch will also included some re-balancing tweaks to the game. Expect it this fall. http://kotaku.com/5630722/borderlands-level-cap-going-up-for-free |

Sept 28 is the next DLC release. I am in desperate need of a larger hard drive before then. |

I really enjoyed this game. The flavor is excellent...but I know I'm missing out on the majority of it because I have no friends that play it, so I'm always solo. For that reason, I never bought any DLC for it. It's a shame, though. Game is a blast, even solo. |

Extremely late to the party, but thought this yesterday when I was in the city based on peer pressure from my buddies back home and glad I did. The 3 of us played for like 5 hours last night, making level 16 or 17. I paid $40 for thr GOTY version on the 360, which I think is a bit steep, but whatever. This game is a blast! |
