Just wanted to let everyone know, Psychonauts is on sale on Steam for Two bucks until thursday. Yes, TWO.

If you've been waiting to play it, I'm pretty sure this is the time. My copy was for the Xbox 1, so I bought it again to have on PC.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm curious how it'll play without a controller on my laptop though. Either way, it's only $2 and I've been meaning to check this game out for years now.

I'm really starting to like Steam. Every Valve Game for $75, every Unreal game for $13, constant $0.99-$10.00 specials, Plants vs. Zombies etc.

This is the future of games distribution.

Psychonauts is based on the exploits of Raz, a young boy gifted with psychic abilities who runs away from the circus to try to sneak into a summer camp for those with similar powers in order to become a 'Psychonaut'. He finds that there is a sinister plot occurring at the camp that only he can stop from happening.

Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. It is used to distribute a large number of games and related media entirely over the internet, from small independent efforts to larger, more popular games. Steam is set apart from similar services primarily by its community features, completely automated game update process, and its use of in-game functionality.

Through the forums I've found a way to get the 360 wired controller working, so that's pretty nice.

More info on Psychonauts: Done by Tim Schafer, the madman behind Maniac Mansion, Secret of Monkey Island, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, and Brutal Legend. You play Raz (voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz *Invader Zim*) and enter peoples minds to fight through their subconscious. Which means most of the levels are radically different in design. (Just wait until you see the Black Velvet level.)

Is it based off of the music video for the song?

Don't forget that it's one of the few digital distribution models that will allow for unlimited redownloads. Great for the compulsive reformatters among us.

Community features, it should be noted, include achievement support, friends-listing (with updates when friends play games and integrated "join server" options for multiplayer games), and integrated voice servers.

Had to look up what you were referencing here, nope, it is not set in a log cabin. :) It's actually an entire level styled after paintings on black velvet.

Also, I did a search on black velvet paintings and this is what came up:

Epic.

I was actually referring to Alannah Myles in leather chaps.

It is also not set inside Alannah Myles wearing leather chaps. I'm pretty sure the rating for that game would be quite different.

Just thought this was pretty funny, Psychonauts actually hit the steam PC charts last week:

Steam

1. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 limited edition (pre-sale)
2. Mass Effect 2
3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
4. Mass Effect 2 Digital Deluxe Edition
5. Global Agenda (pre-sale)
6. BioShock 2 (pre-sale)
7. Mass Effect
8. Psychonauts
9. Tropico 3
10. Company of Heroes Complete

From the article:

The platformer was on sale for $2 during this time, and made it to #8 on the Steam charts. I will now remind you that the Steam charts are determined on revenue, not units sold, so Psychonauts obviously sold a ton, spreading good will and cheer to those with the foresight to see what they'd been missing all this time.

To make it at 2 bucks a pop based on revenue, that's a lot of copies!
