Following rumored details that Tecmo's planned Xbox Live Arcade update of Tecmo Bowl would also be released on the PlayStation Network, the ESRB has jumped the gun a little and rated the game for both XBLA and the PSN -- before Tecmo ever officially confirmed it (via Joystiq).
Titled Tecmo Bowl Throwback, the ESRB rating describes it as a "top-down arcade-style football game in which players compete against teams around the country to become the 'Tecmo Bowl Champion.'" Oh, and there's also "cheerleaders wearing low-cut tops while dancing," and "a jumbotron screen displays a 2D swimsuit model with some exposed cleavage." Woohoo?
More pertinently, though, Joystiq has previously reported -- according to an anonymous tipster -- that this update will be based on the SNES version of Tecmo Super Bowl with updated "HD" graphics, as well as the option to play with the original graphics, too. None of those specific details has yet been confirmed by Tecmo, but with this ESRB rating, it all seems very likely at this point. No release date has been set.
