That's a big reason why I buy fewer games these days. Even if I weren't slammed at school, I wouldn't even pay $20 for that small amount of time.

CoD4 was only 5 hours or so, and I found it to be the most enjoyable FPS campaign I've ever played.

Damn trailers using Johnny Cash songs to pique my interest in thing in which my interest really shouldn't be there. *grumblegrumble*

Gamefly shipped my copy today. I really enjoyed the co-op multiplayer in Chaos Theory, hopefully this one will be good as well.

This is a series that I've played through every game, and will continue to, but I find them extremely frustrating. I'm just not patient enough for stealth. Maybe someday when I'm older.

My copy's on the way. Demo impressed me enough to buy Collector's.

As far as the whole "only five hours thing". While I agree it seems games are getting shorter an shorter it's still a value compared to an 87 minute DVD priced at 19.99 without anyone batting an eye. Why does holywood get the pass.

Also does anyone else find the "no I,ve got shotgun" commerical unbearable, even by gamestop standards?

DvD = $20.
$20/2 hours = $10/hour.
Video Game = $70.
$70/5 hours = ~$14/hour.

Where do you people buy your video games? I've never seen a non-special edition of a game for more than $60. And don't claim taxes; you can order it from Amazon with free shipping and usually a few bucks less than the standard $60. In fact, Amazon has Conviction for $52, with free shipping, so you're only paying $10.40/hour at the end of the day. :P

And that's not even considering any replay or multiplayer value. :)

Multiplayer value for me = 0.
Replay *generally* = 0.

I find most Gamestop commercials unbearable. But that's probably because I'm angry that every time you go in to get a game that "you didn't preorder" you can't. So I go across the street to Best Buy where they have 11-ty billion copies.

Also, because the commercials are idiotic.

Not to hijack the thread, but +1.

Haha, great quote from the Penny Arcade news post today:

The review's apparent exclusivity has lead many to be wary of it, but the IGN review suggests a five-hour single player campaign that has lead many other people to be wary of that. If you weren't planning on taking advantage of the extensive cooperative multiplayer campaign, I can absolutely see the concern - but seriously why would you do that. That is like buying a Snickers bar, and then only eating the receipt.

A quality 5 hours is better than subpar 20 hrs.

I'm excited for it, but I don't think I'll be getting it any time soon.

GF rented this for me yesterday. Played it some last night. So far I'm liking it better than CoD:MW2, but that's because its a third person shooter instead of 1st person, most likely.

I kinda don't like how convoluted the story is, but whatever.

That's what I did yesterday. I had a day off work, so I spent the day playing it. I'm about done with it, barely over 4 hours into it. It's unfortunate it's so short, but it's a very good game. They've definitely strayed away from the old formula. You won't find bottles to distract enemies. You won't find darts to knock out enemies. It's just straight sneak and kill all game long. That being said, it's a fantastic game. I really think there's a lot of replay value out of it for only being a five hour game. There are other modes that appear to add lots of depth. It does feel like more of a rental though.

Steam has this plus all the old games for 75$. I never played Chaos theory or Double Agent. Might have to grab them all.
