Anyone as pumped as I am for this game? If it turns out as good as it sounds it will be an enormous success. There are currently 9 preview videos to download on XBox Live.

Game is due to hit stores May 18th.

Here's a link to an interview about multiplayer in the game.

I want to play it, but I'm not particularly excited about it. Rockstar has never wowed me.

Yup, looks pretty incredible. Looks like both the single player and multiplayer will be very expansive. I can't wait to try out the free roam multiplayer lobby.

Yeah I made a thread about this game months (and months) ago. The forum's basic consensus at the time was "Meh" or "play Gun." So I didn't even bother making any other comments.

There hasn't been any other game in the past year that I have been anticipating more than Red Dead Redemption. Bioshock 2? I've owned it for 2 months, haven't played it once. Mass Effect 2? I've owned it for 2 months, haven't played it once yet. Nope, RDR is the one true game I am salivating over.

Yeah, I can't wait for Grand Theft Auto: Deadwood :)

Should be awesome.

Other than SW:TOR it's the game I'm most anxious for right now. Deus Ex 3 would be at the top of that list if Deus Ex 2 hadn't been so dreadful, though...

Huh, this sounds kind of fun.

Thanks, gents, I would never have had a clue about this game, or what the LA Times article today was about.

Not that I'll pick it up or anything, but at least I'll have the cultural referent in my memory banks. I wouldn't mind walking from Wyoming to Mexico, though, that sounds pretty fun.

Well, the LA Times article got my curiosity piqued.

"Sometimes you can be the hero, sometimes you can be the bad guy, and sometimes while you're deciding what to do, a bear comes out of nowhere and eats someone."

When does this release and on which platforms? I'll probably rent it at first, I've been nonplussed with previous attempts at console westerns, but I love the genre.

360 & PS3. Don't think it's available for PC.

It releases on May 18th.

Should be a pretty cool game. Hopefully it'll be a good Western game. Haven't seen one of note for a long time.

Heh, yeah, that does make it sound kind of fun. I'll have to wait for the PC or Wii (!) version, though.

There won't be a Wii version ;)

Well, yeah, guess I shoulda used a smiley.

But, really, if all you're gonna do is walk around and shoot stuff, you'd think a Wii could work for that. ;)

Hehe, alas, large open world games will probably never make the crossover. Not until the WiiHD2! :)

New trailer!

I think that might be one of the coolest game trailers I've seen in a very long time.

For those of the Glade snagging this, we should form up a gang some night for multiplayer.

Great game. Got it at midnight launch. Super blast so far. My favorite things about it so far are the unscripted moments. For example:

Extreme minor spoiler:
Spoiler:
A sheriff asked me to help him take out a gang and gang leader. We take out the gang and get to the gang leader. As I approach him he sheriff yells out "All right, let's take him..." *BLAM!* "...alive." I am too used to GTA4, I had plugged him right in the forehead in mid-sentence. But then the sheriff says, "Oh well, dead works too. Let's go!" The situation definitely made me laugh.

My only very minor gripe is that it can be difficult to immediately assess good/evil threats. I see two men on horses chasing after another, and their guns are all blazing away. I am thinking, "I should intervene, but who do I shoot?!" I was thinking I should shoot the two men, as they outnumber the other guy and generally bad guys tend to do that. Nope. As I got close, I saw the Sheriff badges.

But it definitely forces me to keep a sharper eye out, which I kind of like. It's better than the whole giant glowing red reticle other games feature. And another thing I like is that the world continues to turn around you, no matter what. I was in a store with the menu open and selling some pelts, all of a sudden I start hearing a ton of gunfire outside. I quickly hit all the cancel buttons and run out of the shop. A half dozen men were riding through town, hootin' and hollerin' while firing their pistols in the air. Again, I had to think "Do I need to take these guys down?" No, they were just riding through and having fun as far I could tell. But the nice part was 1. The game doesn't pause around you. and 2. If I wanted to keep the peace in a deadly fashion, the option was open to me.

I spent way too much time playing texas hold'em (in game) too.

For which platform should one purchase this game?

Please try to leave biases aside about the platforms themself, I am just curious as to game performance/visuals/etc.

PS3 runs at sub-HD according to a few sources.

Here, you can compare for yourself though.

Free Co-op mission pack for RDR next month!
http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/54650/Free-Red-Dead-Redemption-Co-Op-Mission-Pack-Announced
Quote:
Folks purchasing Red Dead Redemption can download a free, three-mission co-op DLC addon sometime next month:
Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., is proud to announce the ‘Outlaws To The End’ Co-Op multiplayer Mission Pack for Red Dead Redemption. Available FREE this June simultaneously for Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network, this brand new co-op mode adds an entirely new dimension to Red Dead Redemption’s game play.
“Multiplayer in Red Dead Redemption offers players a whole new way to encounter the massive open world we’ve created, but we felt the experience would not be complete without co-op game play,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “With these missions, we wanted to create new ways for players to share in the experience of engaging with this amazing landscape.”

One of three downloadable content packs, the ‘Outlaws To The End’ Co-Op Mission Pack features six all-new multiplayer missions full of outlaws, epic gunfights, and revolution for 2-4 players. The ‘Outlaws to the End’ Co-Op Mission Pack offers additional multiplayer XP rewards and brand new Achievements and Trophies to unlock. These six explosive and epic missions will play out across the game world, including:

Walton’s Gold: Walton’s Gang have taken control of a mining camp rich with gold. Fight through the camp and load your mine cart with as much gold as you can carry and get out as fast as you can – Walton’s boys have rigged the place to blow.
The River: Ride a raft down river, taking out rebel encampments along the way until you reach the rebel stronghold of Nosalida and a final epic battle for the town’s massive weapons caches. Watch out for Gatling gun-equipped enemy rafts.
Ammunition: The Mexican Army has the town of Tesoro Azul under siege. Storm the gates under heavy cannon, Gatling gun and sniper fire to destroy the Mexican artillery placements.

Co-op mission pack says "X-Box" to me. More people to play with on Live than PSN.
