I don't get it. What the hell happened to them? They used to rule the school, and now.... http://www.destructoid.com/rare-fan-com ... 9989.phtml |

Never heard of Rare, but its funny that this "fan" site laments exactly what Apple does in protecting its identity, yet it has just as much a rabid fan appeal. |

Rare (Rareware) made games like Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye, Banjo & Kazooie, Killer Instinct, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and several others. They were a third party developer for Ninendo, but Microsoft bought them out and from then they have had nothing but bad strings of successes and have been relegated to practical obscurity. Unlike Apple, Rare needs a boost. Any boost. And they pissed on it. |

One of my favorite N64 games was Diddy Kong Racing. I was saddened when I couldn't find it on the Wii VC. |

Microsoft ate it. That's what happened. |

Too bad -- was hoping to see a new Killer Instinct, classic Rare-style. Also, some people were up in arms about their re-branding (said it just homogenized them into another modern, trendy company): |

I mean, ****, Nintendo fired Rare and revoked their platform license. Sony wouldn't given them a platform license. Microsoft didn't eat them. They were already dead. MS just paid for the life support for a while.
