I've been playing a lot of Halo: Reach lately, so I looked at the lack of chatting as a bonus :-D

Haha no question, Global mute in that game is the best thing ever. I only use party chat with friends, whenever I'm in game I mute everyone by default. Thank you so much Bungie for that option. I forgot earlier, and I was literally pissed off by some fool in the first 5 seconds of game. Hooray global mute, and party chat!
