Now for the actual game, I actually heard just a couple weeks ago that Yu Suzuki believes Sega will probably let him make Shenmue III. It's basically just up to the budget. Shenmue 1 was extremely expensive to make, and even though it has become a cult classic, it has just been hard for Sega to justify the series continuing beyond the second game.
Regardless, I think they're going to have to shorten the game's initial vision. From what I remember hearing, the game was supposed to take place over like 10 or 12 titles, or that's how much story they have for the game. They could always make some in game movies to speed up the story though. For me, I look forward to no game on this planet as much as Shenmue III.
