http://brinkthegame.com/ Very cool looking new FPS. Anyone else planning on picking this up? Wikipedia wrote: Brink is a first-person shooter with a focus on parkour-style movement. Online multiplayer servers hold up to 16 players. You can play cooperatively or competitively or against bots. Splash Damage developed the SMART (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) System.[9] By noting a player's position and predicting what he is trying to do, it lets players navigate complex environments without equally complex input. There are four character classes: the soldier, the medic, the engineer, and the operative. [10] The Soldier resupplies teammates and uses explosives to destroy important targets. The Engineer buffs their teammates' weapons and builds stationary turrets. The Medic heals fallen teammates and buffs their teammates' health. The Operative interrogates fallen opponents to get intel on enemy locations, performs acts of sabotage, and disguises himself as the enemy. Bethesda also claims 102 quadrillion total unique characters when factoring in minor variations. The Squad Commander system gives players context-sensitive missions. A variety of factors -- where the player is, how good he is, his overall mission progress, etc. -- determine what the missions will be. During play both online and off-, the player can defend one of his faction's command posts or capture an enemy's command post. An Objective Wheel shows the main objective in yellow and will show a checkpoint which the player will need to go to to achieve that primary goal. There are also secondary goals. Each player has one in his/her inventory and will, on certain missions, be timed to achieve the goal that must be completed. It releases at midnight tonite, and you can pre-load it thru steam now. I'm really looking forward to some multiplayer action with this one. |

I've been looking forward to this for a long time. A ton of customization + Team Fortress 2 styled Class based system should be fun. |

I'll probably keep my eye out for a demo. The lousy part is, if my brother has any interest at all, he'll probably want to play on 360. ****' joypads. |

I don't like non-cover based shooters very much. This one does not look like something I would enjoy playing at all. Plus, I'm pretty over multiplayer for shooters that aren't Left 4 Dead, so that's just one more thing I wouldn't use. |

Haven't read any reviews yet, but I'm enjoying the hell out of it. Single player is ok, but a bit frustrating because your AI teammates are retarded. But multiplayer is hella fun. The SMART movement system is cool, just takes a but to get used to. I love the fact that you can use any weapon and are not locked into class-specific loadouts. For instance, I dropped a turret down on a balcony as an engineer, then hid nearby and equipped my sniper rifle. And since I had a silencer on it, firing wouldn't give away my position on the mini-map. So all ppl would see was my turret, which I could repair or re-deploy as needed. Very cool. Also, you can switch classes at any command post, without changing weapons (although you can if you want), which makes switching very fast and seamless. The command post also shows you how many of each class your team has, so you can decide accordingly. Anyway, it's really fun so far. I'm very happy with my purchase. Looking forward to some co-op and MP action with my buddies tonight. |
