The interesting thing, to me, is that Rock, Paper, Shotgun (where I picked this up from) was told to "tag this under PC, XBLA, and iOS." Three games, three teased games, and judging from the video, I don't think it's tough to say which one I expect on which platform... But Futuremark is the company that created 3DMark and PCMark. They're a benchmarking company that decided (with Shattered Horizon), "Hey, we're making complex and cutting edge engines for our 3DMark product, why not do a little more work to flesh it out into a basic game and sell it?" So it doesn't surprise me to see another announcement for a PC game... but an iOS game and an XBLA game? This isn't some byproduct of their old area of focus. Now we're talking about them essentially deciding to be a game studio, instead of a benchmarking shop that spins off some of its work into convenient game outlets. In any event, I want to see more of that 3rd game. If it can be nearly as awesome as Shattered Horizon, I want to play it. Looks just as, if not more, gorgeous, and if it's got some of the design innovation that went largely unnoticed in Shattered Horizon, I bet it's fun as hell. |
