Now you have some real tender jerky to exercise some really crazy theories with!

Microsoft just recently registered the domain "sony-microsoft.com."

Link here.

Probably related to a future tablet or handset running WP7 or W8.. (just my guess).

I don't gamble for a very specific reason. I hate losing money gambling. When I win it just doesn't give me the thrill to offset the losing negativity.

However, it will happen someday, most likely when someone sells a better operating system than MS that other people will actually embrace and use. Then Sony will buy MS.

From a Microsoft Standpoint it's an excellent idea. Not sure how they get sony to go along with it other than "huge stacks of money." Also I think you'd need some pretty top hardware to run emulate a PS3 inside a windows operating system.

Actually, it's a huge win for Sony. They lose money on the console itself over the course of its product lifecycle. The real money gets made on licensing fees from games. If they could get licensing fees on games for windows, they'd be golden.

Not really ...

You just need a second generation i7, which is about the cost of a PS3. The graphics aren't the problem for PCs; in fact, you'll find that the limiting factor for the PS2 and PS3 has always been Sony's selection of CPU.

That said, you'll still have more trouble correctly emulating a PS3 on a Wintel box than a PS3.

re: sony/ms domain names: Sony = great MS partner. No scoop here, this was just a defensive domain hold. Let's move on to weekend, kay? :)
