We’ll have more coming with Masters of the Force minis in April, which will have some of your most favorite characters along with rare creatures from the Dejarik Holochess game that have never appeared in our game. We’ll also release The Unknown Regions RPG in April, which includes entirely new planets and mini-adventures for each world.

We are finishing the line with a bang so look for special programs at your local game store to stock up on favorite sets before they go into the vault. We will continue to support our Star Wars forums on the Wizards Community site so you can reach out and chat with us and other fans.

While I know the news is disappointing, we wanted to make this announcement as soon as possible and thank you for being such great fans. It’s been a fantastic ride with the Star Wars community and working with Lucasfilm. We hope you enjoy the next several months of great products. You never know when we may circle back again!

Okay, the X-Wing FFG offering looks like it might be interesting. So long as it's not "collectible" with randomized packs or whatever.

Hasbro really only allows WotC to spend money developing Magic: The Gathering. They put aside money when they can for D&D, mostly out of nostalgia. People at WotC have some inherent loyalty to the product that they keep it alive. Everything else gets a brief run, until Hasbro sees it isn't another Magic cash cow.

also I wonder if the system will be any good. Dan was working on adapting cy6 for use with space fighters. I think we got stuck on Heroclix and the project got shelved. If the system doesn't work this might provide a source of usable minis for that project though.

Actually, looking further (and asking a question on their board, which some bigger FFG fans than I managed to answer with some helpful information), it looks like this is likely to be an adaptation of Wings of War.

Which, while it does feature "expansion sets" of a sort, isn't random. You know what set you're going to get. Of course, it's got that profit model that's similar to FFG's silly LCG bullshit, but at least the core game would be more appealing to me than the LCG gameplay.
