http://penny-arcade.com/resources/just-wow1.html A PR guy makes a total *** of himself. and then... http://penny-arcade.com/resources/an-update1.html It fun to see someone get what they deserve. I like what Gabe says at the end. Quote: I think there is a big difference between being sorry and being sorry you got caught. I have a real problem with bullies. I spent my childhood moving from school to school and I got made fun of everyplace I landed. I feel like Paul is a bully and maybe that’s why I have no sympathy here. Someday every bully meets and even bigger bully and maybe that’s me in this case. It’s the same thing that happened with Jack Thompson. It might not always make the most business sense and it is a policy that has caused us some legal problems, but I really don’t give a **** about that. When these assholes threaten me or Penny Arcade I just laugh. I will personally burn everything I’ve made to the **** ground if I think I can catch them in the flames.

I haven't kept up with this. So stay with me? Leaking personal information, smearing a man's family, over a pre-order? And it's supposed to be a good thing. The guy was certainly acting unprofessional, but it sounds a bit harsh. |

It's not quite like that. It was an actual order. I don't think anyone thinks he deserves the full uncaring assault of the Internet, but... It's not like his personal info was "leaked" only things he provided on the Internet... never mind. /sigh I can already tell what you've chosen to think. http://kotaku.com/5871400/cut-paul-ocea ... roid-rage/ http://kotaku.com/5871479/pr-trolling-o ... orgiveness I'm enjoying the drama. Sounds like he might have deserved some of it... Quote: A search through Florida's public Department of State Division of Corporations database reveals that Kotkin and Christoforo are listed as officers in a company called Afternoon Artists. Afternoon Artists was registered this July. Schwartz said he has been receiving a lot of questions about that connection. "David (Kotkin) said it was a LLC for a charity that was never actually created," he said. "He bought the name thinking Paul would be involved, but nothing came of it. The company never actually existed." Someone at work brought the whole thing up. I didn't start looking up articles until this afternoon. Dude sounds pretty shady. |

I haven't chosen to think anything. I'm just trying to understand the situation. |

Rori, it appears that PA posted the guy's emails on their website and passionate PA fans went out and found the guy's information online and started harassing him online. He was an ******* to one of his customers and one of his clients (PAX East). |

I've been following this from the beginning, and this guy is a real piece of work. If anyone has ever deserved "the wrath of the internet", he's up there. Beginning with him insulting paying customers (multiple), and claiming to have the support of multiple major media sites (he did not), he basically is one of those people who will simply bullshit you until you catch him, and then attempt to lie his way out of it. He even replied to an e-mail from the editor of Kotaku attempting to impersonate someone else trying to quiet the story down. http://kotaku.com/5871400/cut-paul-oceanmarketting-christoforo-a-breakhe-probably-just-has-roid-rage?tag=paul-christoforo Quote: Hi Joel, I have been following this story since this morning when someone notified me about what was going on. I did not write that response to you. Yes, in the past I received email at brandon@avengercontroller.com but even then we were an outsourced marketing agency for N-Control. I no longer receive email at that address because we fired N-Control as a client about 8 months ago due to constant shipping delays (which we had to deal with) and their association with Paul Cristoforo who is a street thug masquerading as a self proclaimed "Marketing Professional". This guy is a complete fool and somehow strong armed his way into working with the company so we walked away. I am not surprised in the slightest bit by what's going on right now. In fact, we told the owners of the company on many occasions that this would eventually happen. I wasn't going to chime in but since he is replying as me, I can't resist. I personally can't stand him. Brandon _____________________________________________________________________ Brandon Leidel - CEO, Director of Operations The HAND Media, Inc. I personally hope the Avenger controller does well, it looks like it's creator is a very nice guy and the product is going to help some people who could not game otherwise. Honestly, this has probably given the product a lot of publicity that it would not have gotten otherwise (I was starting to think it was a guerrilla marketing ploy until the additional information came out about this guy). At least it looks like Paul will be getting all he deserves as well. |

(Probably final) update, Douche does an interview, proves he's learned absolutely nothing: douchebag wrote: "He called me a bully, but he was being a bully ... especially when he emailed me out of the blue, saying 'That's f***ing s***ty, you're banned from PAX,' I was like 'Who the f*** are you? That's how you introduce yourself? ... I dont want to call him out, but he could have gone about that a totally different way, he could have said, 'Hey, I run the show, that email was a little unprofessional, if you don't do something to apologize I don't want you at my show.' But he just came at me and said, indirectly, 'Hey, f*** you, you're banned from PAX.' Is that what you'd call professional? I wouldn't." Christoforo also said his response was driven in part by what he saw as the disrespectful tone of the messages that came before it. "Not that I don't have respect for anybody, but if someone's badmouthing me or being a little punk or being a jerk, they don't deserve respect," he said. "You can't expect to go up and say 'Hey you piece of s***,' and expect respect. Send an email, introduce yourself. ... I trust everybody until they give me a reason not to respect them. I'm not a tough guy, not a bully, but at same time not going to take s*** if it's uncalled for. Regarding the litany of names Christoforo's e-mail called up as potential supporters - a list that included everyone from Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski to the mayor of Boston - he said the tactic was meant to "impress, not to threaten" and didn't come through correctly because "you can't see tone of voice in email." "I don't know the mayor of Boston," he admitted. "That was taken totally out of context, I was just joking around. I am from Boston, though, and I know a lot of people people who own clubs. I know some influential people, like the guy who runs the door at the convention center. "Maybe it was because it was email, maybe on the phone it would have been different story ... it would have nipped everything in the bud." Looking back, Christoforo is still a little shocked that what he thought would remain a private email conversation got blown into an Internet event the way it did. "If this didn't get escalated to Penny Arcade, it would have never gone viral like it did," he said. "Ultimately, if I was able to control the customer, it never would have happened. I've dealt with thousands and thousands of customers with similar complaints, they were all asking the same question. When is it big enough that it hits the news? When it hits Penny Arcade, when it hits a guy who has the biggest affiliations in the industry." Quote: But Christoforo also sees some potential positives in all the negative attention he's been getting. His Twitter account, which has now changed names twice because he was "sick of the tweets and stuff coming in," has been getting a lot of new followers from the controversy, he noted, a situation that may be beneficial down the line. "If these people stick with me and follow me, a couple months down the road anything I say is news," he said. "If it gets me somewhere else that I wouldn't have been where this happened ... it's negative now, but controversy and bad news is news and that's just the way it is. Look at all the bad press from people in entertainment industry that turned into something good. Whether I do charity work or something good, I don't know." Final lesson learned: It's OK to be a total dick to everyone, unless they have earned your respect by having some sort of power you hope to exploit for yourself. Also, any publicity is good publicity. http://kotaku.com/5871656/chastened-gaming-rep-paul-christoforo-responds-to-internet-infamy |
