UPDATE - I've decided to turn this into an ME3 resource thread for those of you that have questions or whatever. I don't want this to just be a big post of links so I'll just edit in anything that seems to be important as we play/discuss. New Features:
Importing Your Character: Importing a character from Mass Effect 2 will retain your level and give you the option to change classes if you want. Bioware has said that there are over 1,000 variables that are transferred throughout the game, so if you have a save file somewhere, be sure not to skip it. Less than an hour into the game I was already seeing things that could have been totally different, depending on my council/cerberus/collector/geth decisions. WARNING to 360 Players: you cannot import a game from a cloud save, or one that has been transferred to another system via cloud save. You can only use save files from the original system you played on, or a system that had the save transferred via usb or transfer cable. Spoiler-free Ending Guide Mass Effect 3 has 16 ending variations. Use at your own risk: http://www.ign.com/wikis/mass-effect-3/Endings Multiplayer Item List Spoiler: |

I suppose I should finish the first two games at some point. Maybe I'll do that while waiting for Bioware to actually do something with Legacy levels (swtor). Sitting at level 10 legacy and it's 100% pointless to keep leveling up alts at this point until that does something for me. |

Don't forget to play the Kingdom of Amalur demo to get some bonus items for Mass Effect 3. Play the demo on the same system you are going to play Mass Effect 3 on, though. Also, Mass Effect 3 demo sometime in February. |

Yeah, you don't even really have to play the demo, either. You get the bonuses at the beginning of the demo, so you could always back out if you aren't into it. That said, Amalur is pretty fun too. My impression ended in thinking, "That's what Fable should have been". |

Actually, you need to complete the demo to get one of the items. You get one(the armor, I think?) for having the demo installed and linking to your EA account and you get the gun for completing the demo. And yeah...when I was playing the demo, it felt like I was playing the original Fable, but with a good story. Going to be picking this one up for sure. |

Oh, really? Crap. I got the little pop up when I started the demo and figured that was it... I didn't play until the time limit got hit because I had to go somewhere, guess I'll fire it up again. Any word on if demo progress will go into the full game? |

I dunno. All of the popups make it seem like the demo progress will be, but it doesn't flat out say so anywhere that I can tell. |

So I got the "startup items" when I began the demo, then the helm when I chose my class path at the fey (after completing the intro-mission), is there another item when the timer expires? |

Dammit, I am a college student. Stop making Mass Effect 3 look so awesome, because I don't want to play it until I've had time to replay 1 and have actually played 2! |

"God of War + Oblivion" is a term I see thrown around. But this means I am a little torn on which platform I should play it on. Is it a first person or third person game? Does the fighting play more like God of War/Fable than Oblivion? I prefer to play third person action games on the console, especially if the fighting involves combos. I dislike playing first person or precision-aiming games on the console, however. |

I think it will be much better on a controller. |

It's nothing like God of War. This combat is not on the same playing field as GoW, Darksiders, Dante's or Bayonetta. Also, it's only similar to Oblivion/Skyrim in the sense that it's open and large. Don't get it twisted though, this is definitely a an experience closest in kin to Fable, and you'll wanna play on a console. Now, back to ME3! |

Ok, Mass Effect. I decided to start over as a non-sniper (ie: class that isn't handicapped for 75% of the game -- thank you short and tight corridors). I had forgotten that it takes 5 hours before you can even leave the citadel. Jeeeeeebus! |

I wasn't a fan of sniping in part 1 but Infiltrator in ME2 is overpowered as hell |

Honestly the pistol in 1 was every bit as overpowered as the sniper rifle. (Marksman with the right mods turned pistols into almost instant kills on nearly anything) Infiltrators got Pistols/Sniper Rifles so I never felt like my infiltrators were handicapped. |

Post subject: | Re: Mass Effect 3 |
Part of the problem may be that while my sniping skills are exceptional on the PC, they are atrocious on the console. It's why I don't like playing FPS games on the console. I am not precise at all and always over-correct. Frustrating as hell. So, that combined with tight hallways and short corridors my window to get an accurate headshot is extremely small. I have yet to find a configuration that lets me feel like I have some modicum of control. The closest I can get is having very low sensitivity (to help with overcorrecting), but that limits reaction time. Very ironic, as my mouse sensitivity on my PC is very high (so high that few people can use it just to browse the internet without me turning it down for them). I've thought that maybe I should stop playing with the Y-axis inverted, as I do not invert my mouse on the PC for FPS games. I don't know if taking the time to get used to that would offer any benefits, which is why I haven't done it yet. |

mass effect 1 made that easy. Use the powers menu to center your cursor. time is stopped while on the powers menu. |

TheRiov wrote: mass effect 1 made that easy. Use the powers menu to center your cursor. time is stopped while on the powers menu. Ah. And I rarely ever use time-stopping devices which is why I never noticed. Seriously, I probably only used VATS a total of three times in Fallout 3. The only games where I made heavy use of such mechanics were the original Baldur's Gate games, but only because they were unplayable without it. You mentioned ME1 made that easy. What changed in ME2? |

Nothing, you can do the same thing in ME2. That said, if you're playing an Infiltrator in ME2 it doesn't matter, because they can slow down time when sniping. Makes for easy mode aiming. |

Can technically do it with a soldier as well with their slow time ability. But it has the bonus of doing extra damage. But I feel Infiltrators are better overall. |
