Talk about it here.

Demo and stuff. Play the ME3 demo, get free items in Kingdom of Amalur.

Game plays almost exactly like the original Fable. Wasn't a huge fan of the very limited supply of regenerating arrows, but towards the end of the demo it was getting a little better because all of the finesse skills that dealt with archery seemed to increase quiver size. Still, it takes 9 years for the arrows to start regenerating and if you happen to shoot one while they are regenerating, they stop regenerating and you have to wait another 9 years.

One thing I really liked was the fate bar or whatever the **** it was called that makes you amazingly powerful and lets you use neat finishers when you bring something to 0 health. Clicking a billion times to get the bonus exp was kind of repetitive, but whatever. They looked cool at least.

Is this the new game by Curt Schilling's company?

Didnt really like it. Although might be good as a console type light gaming thing I guess.

I think my biggest beef with this game is my character doesn't talk. I mean, he has dialogue, but none of it is voiced. Kind of annoying, but Elder Scrolls and Fallout don't have voiced PCs, either. But I guess it's different to me because those games are first person games and it's easier to project myself onto them.

I liked the demo better than anything I've seen out of the many hours I've watched Phe play Skyrim. Liked it enough that I sent Phe out to pre-order it for the PS3 today while I am at work (it comes out tomorrow and I want the pre-order digital goodies).

The demo didn't "Wow" me. I liked the backstabby-ness of daggers, though I was intent on playing a 2h sword person... not sure if that's really an option, as it looks like you'll have to have a shield no matter what.

The running animation really didn't sit well with me. And the character felt a bit stiff to control overall.

It seemed like an O.K. game and people that liked Fable will likely like this (Fable was kinda "Meh" for me). I suggested this game to my wife. But I doubt I will play it beyond what I played in the demo.

Thanks for the heads-up about this game though!

Perhaps Dark Souls spoiled me too much, but I'm actually bothered by the fact that the shield exists in hyperspace until blocking. Other than that, it was like a more actiony Fable with more customization and a smidge of Oblivion-style questing.

Rynar, your user-management has gotten really confusing of late. ;)

Heh. I imagine that's confusing to those who don't participate in or read DE's pbp games. I'll try to remember to make the switch going forward. Truth be told, I really haven't cared to post here much, or even read the board since my suspension outside of DE's game, so I really haven't been paying much attention to user management. My thoughts simply being that if the board in general and captain save-a-ho think this place is better off without me, who am I to argue. I have no interest in changing, and I don't cater to those who would ask me to change to fit in. I now just use this place for gaming. My ability to care much beyond that has been removed.

That's great. So, do you want to elaborate on the 3 month "**** curt" bump?

If 38 Studios does shutter, beyond Rhode Island taxpayers having to pay off the $75 million bond (plus interest) through 2020, it appears the state will also own the intellectual property of the developer as a parting gift. Reviewing updated documentation released by the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) today, it appears 38 Studios put up all present and future IP by the company as collateral.

BWAHAHAHAHA.

It will be kind of a shame if they do default. I was quite impressed by 38 studios and Amalur.

Update

Quote:
38 Studios was unable to make payroll this week, but is in the process of making the $1.125 million payment that set off the company's crisis earlier this week. WPRI reports that a spokesperson for the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) did confirm that former Red Sox player Curt Schilling's video game company was unable to pay its employees.

A source tells Joystiq that beyond not making payroll, all temps and contractors at 38 Studios were let go this week.

At the same time, Governor Lincoln Chafee's office stated 38 Studios is in the process of making the overdue payment to the state. The head of the RIEDC, Keith Stokes, who approved the $75 million loan to 38 Studios in 2010, resigned late last night.

Update: The hand-delivered check for the overdue $1.125 million payment has been returned by the EDC to 38 Studios after the company's chief financial officer said there were insufficient funds to cover it.

Update 2: Statement from the Office of Governor Lincoln D. Chafee: "A check from 38 Studios was hand-delivered to the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation at approximately 5 o'clock this evening. However, upon learning from the Chief Financial Officer of 38 Studios that there were insufficient funds to cover the payment, the check was returned. The EDC remains willing to accept readily available funds."
