So Armored Core 5 is coming out in about a month. I loved Armored Core 4: For Answer, and, though I know 5 will be much slower-paced, I am excitedly awaiting the date. For those not in the know, here's a vid I dug up with some gameplay: To be honest, I don't expect a riveting campaign with amazing writing - that's kinda how Armored Core is. It's never had a strong story, but I've always felt that the gameplay and customization were where I had my fun. Also a little intrigued at the thought of an online mode that's been polished, unlike in previous titles, though I was never a fan of the multiplayer. I also know Gamestop is offering extra parts/weapons with preorder, but I don't want to give them my money. ![]() Anyhoo, what does the Glade think of giant customizable mecha? |

Yeah, Armored Core -- that's the name of the one that does the anime mech style I don't buy into. I was having a hard time coming up with it, since I don't play it and only know it because my brother does. The Mechwarrior/Battletech games, Heavy Gear, and (I assume, because I was a broke college kid at the time, and by the time I could afford to throw a couple hundred bucks at an awesome custom controller, it was out of print and for an obsolete system) Steel Battalion are what I gravitate towards. |

If that's the case, what're your thoughts on the new Steel Battalion that was announced awhile back? I always wanted the original. I'm as much for mech sims as I am for Gundam-style mech combat, and the new one looks pretty interesting, though I'm not sure if I like the WW2 aesthetic. I'm a fan of Armored Core because of the level of customization rather than the actual 'mech' part of it, if that makes any sense. I can have a merry old time just dreaming up new ideas and putting them together. |

I just want a mech customization game where I can then go out and smash stuff, no elaborate missions or anything... is Armored core like that? XD |

Nek uses the training space like that, sometimes. |
