Delicious.

I just hope they don't **** around with the story or voice acting already in the game. Unless they get the original voice actors to reprise their roles.

As long as the improvements aren't too modern...

Maybe it'll be a Dragon Age II reskin.

No...too soon for that.

THAC0 refuses to die. It's like a cockroach.

I'm interested. It's rough trying to play these games again due to their very low-res and uncustomizable interface (especially so in the first game). There is a lot of screen real estate taken up by things that just aren't necessary. They're nicely done from an artistic standpoint, but they don't need to be around full-time.

And personally, I'd like to see the game fully voiced. I am spoiled by modern games. I would even tolerate new actors (as long as they at least attempted to somewhat sound like the original characters). Kevin J. Richardson (Sarevok), Frank Welker (Xyzar/Elminster), and Jim "Darkwing Duck" Cummings (Minsc) are still going strong in the voice acting world so it wouldn't be unheard of to at least get them.

David Warner (Jon Irenicus) might be the toughest to get because he's the more higher profile actor, and he's getting up there in years.

But, honestly, Sarevok (and MAYBE Minsc) would be the only character whose original actor I'd miss most if they did the games fully voiced with new people. But even then, I'd accept it.

Bring it on.

Baldur's Gate 2 would not be the same without David Warner. He made Jon Irenicus. Seriously. Best villain in a game ever.

Voice acting is overrated in RPGs. Gimme that wall-o-text. Thanks.

Oh, cool, you can play it on the iPad.

http://kotaku.com/5895620/youll-be-able ... is-summer/

I really wish devs would start remaking most older games for mobile/tablets. I'd love to play the X-Men Legends games on my iPad, for instance.

I am going to be very upset if it is just for mobile devices.

Odd...they've definitively announced it for the iPad, in a separate press release from the initial announcement, but the initial announcement makes no mention whatsoever of platforms on which it will be available. There are no platform logos on the site, and the iPad is the only confirmed platform. Strange.

Edit: sites seems to be saying it was initially announced for PC, and then the iPad was announced *additionally,* which makes sense, but there is absolutely *nothing* on the Baldur's Gate site about desktops. I don't know if it's just assumption on the news sites' parts, or what. It makes sense that it would be for both PC and mobile, but I can't find any official mention of it whatsoever.

Edit 2: Electric Boogaloo: here's the official initial press release:

PC version is out; every other version has a game-breaking bug that they didn't catch and that's cross-platform. iOS may be up next week, Android version trailing behind it.

It's quite fun. I don't remember classes like barbarian and monk being available in the original game, but I could be confusing it with original AD&D.

There seems to be a lot more side quests than I remember. The quest tracking journal is also vastly improved.

Ammunition stacks up to 60 per pile instead of 20. And I know of at least an item called a "gem bag" that lets you put gems inside of it instead of them taking up inventory slots.

Pretty much. Even down to the "your party members move the hell out of your way when trying to walk past them." Very infuriating in the original.

One new feature I like is the ability of the camera to zoom in and out with the mousewheel.

I've been reading about all sorts of bugs with this release, and lots of angry purchasers. Maybe I'll wait for a couple patches before buying.

I haven't run into anything that was game-breaking. The biggest annoyance I found was during an ambush one of the NPCs I discarded near the same spot kept coming up to me and asking to rejoin the party. After declining to continue with the battle, 1 second later he'd keep pestering me. I let him join, and then re-booted him after the person I dropped asked if I was serious or not. That resolved it.

Haven't had the problem since with that particular NPC.

There's already been one patch for the game as well. Whether you buy it now or later, it's still worth 20 bucks as far as I am concerned.

BG2 and throne of Bhaal available now as enhanced editions as well. New party members, more stuff, and of course more improvements.
