Well, console is just over a year old and I am now getting this error message.

I have set up the repair with Microsoft, but I don't know what exactly is the problem. Anyone have any experience with this error?

Aside from extending the RRoD warranty to cover this error, I thought I may have also read that MS had possibly been offering refunds for the consoles with this error.

Am I going to get back a repaired unit whose days are numbered? I can't believe I paid for the elite and got just over 1 year of use out of it before it crapped out on me.

I don't know what to think. I want it fixed, but I don't want a bum unit that may crap out again on me.

What they send back is good enough that they're willing to extend the warranty. I'd take it.

Unless, of course, you can get a full refund of your purchase price or something, and just go out and buy a new one. But then, again, you had a new one that only lasted a year, so I dunno if that feels any safer to you..

The one I got back after mine finally RROD'd (within six months of the warranty being due to expire, so I'll take that warranty extension with a smile) has been just fine.

I have also had to return mine for service due to RRoD 3 or 4 months ago and the one that they sent is just fine (knocks on wood).

Whoa, hey. I didn't know you had one. Do you play anything on Live!?

I sent mine in for RRoD more than a year ago. The one they sent me back had a funky disk drive. It doesn't want to open all the time and sometimes won't read the game disk. I called MS about it right away and they told me that if I wanted that fixed I had to pay for the extended warrenty.

'For a machine you just sent me?'

"Yes sir, I am sorry.'

..l..

Don't get me wrong, I love my 360 but that just pissed me right the hell off.

My other concern is I have worked for UPS. I have seen how boxes can be handled, especially one of the size that will contain my Xbox. (TOSS - CRASH)

I am more concerned of the additional potential damage it may incur while in transit.

MS isn't sending me a box, I have to package it myself. I stopped at the UPS store and they will package it for a price. I may do this and watch over the packing process to ensure it is snugly wrapped to my liking.

*grumble*

On the plus side, I just realized that my copy of Resident Evil 5 came with a free 48 hour membership to Xbox Live Gold. I can download the Versus mode for RE5 now, I just don't know if it is offline VS as well as online VS.

I'll have to wait about a month when I eventually get my system back to find out....

*re-grumble*

MS insures the coffins (even when they make you dig up the box for it now, they still pay for the shipping).

I think they included a one-month Gold subscription card with my returned X-Box.
