Since I know a lot of people on here playing I figured someone could answer my question since I just bought it today. Anyways when i'm playing it for a little while it's fine then it seems like i'm playing in molasses, I turn slowly, and it's like the movement is on a delay, the thing is my framerate is still 60fps when it's happening so I don't know what's going on, I did go and set the process priority to high and still the same. |

That's probably the "lag spike of death" that happens for some people when the autosave kicks in. Short version: Notch is not a good programmer. Long version: get optifine. If you use the multicore version, you may have some invisible geometry issues with Nvidia cards unless you turn "threaded optimization" explicitly off (instead of auto) in the Nvidia control panel. Optifine will fix this and a lot of other performance-related issues. So many busy wait loops! |

I tried that but ultimately the same issue though I was able to play for about 10 mins before it started happening, 60fps, but everything seemed delayed and like I was moving thru molasses :/ And I'm using an ATI/AMD card not a nvidia one. |

If you still have optifine installed, check the autosave interval. It's under, uh...Graphics Options > Other. I think. Make sure it's set to something sensible. I have mine set on 30 minutes, but probably even the 3 minute setting is okay. I wouldn't try anything more frequent than that. |

I changed auto save to 30 mins as well as played with some other new graphic settings added with optifine and now it's running fine, thanks! |

Sigh, and just got my new laptop today which is much faster than my desktop and even with optifine and all the same tweaks i'm getting the same issue, I wish I knew the game was so poorly codes cause I wouldn't have bought it knowing that, a basic game like that shouldn't be lagging on my computer :/ |

I'm bumping this because I recently had similar issues when I updated to one of the development snapshots (for which there currently is no Optifine). Turns out the problem was Mcafee being shitty software. I've tolerated it on this laptop so far because the subscription was part of the sale price. This weekend I finally decided I was sick of its bullshit when it froze up the file dialog in GIMP for the 9th time. Kicking it to the curb and replacing it with MSSE has solved the lock-up issues with both GIMP and Minecraft. There are some kinds of file I/O that just make it **** bricks. I don't know why. So maybe try disabling your AV and see if the problem goes away. |
