Am I the only one who longs to revisit game worlds? There are times that I want to replay a game not only because it was such a great game, but to re-experience the world?

I remember LoZ: Twilight Princess being one of them. A fantasy world that drew me in with it's sprawling size and dungeons from those in the deep forest, at the bottom of a lake, or high in the sky. Certain things such as this have often made me long to replay such games only to revisit such locales. I have often replayed many a game if only to see their respective worlds again.

Currently, Red Dead Redemption has this hold on me. I loved the game when I played it through the first time, and I am replaying it now. If there wasn't a single player campaign, I could just get lost in the expansive world. Riding to nowhere, taking in the scenery, and just interacting with the world.

Has there been any games that you have replayed, if for nothing else, just to revisit the world it is set in? Any games that have taken hold in your mind that you would never want to part with because you always want to be able to go back?

LOL! I TOLD you all that I am immensely behind in my gaming. I figure I'll finish up everything currently on my plate when my kids are away for college.

Lately all I have time for is a few minutes here or there. Never enough to get too deep into the story of Assassin's Creed. Besides, for the short amount of time I can squeeze in, I'm sure I'll wander off in search of ANYTHING other than that main story waypoint.

Good example, though. AC: Brotherhood is another one that I can totally lose myself in, never getting closer to the actual goal. All the side missions keep me occupied otherwise.

Everquest.

Running around Norrath in 2002 was an awesome experience. So many places to explore, and lots of fun just goofing off and running through the world.

I consistently stop playing, and then go back for nostalgia.

I also keep up with my WTF Comics, which tend to drive some of that old nostalgic feeling as well.

EverQuest definitely has large hooks in me still. I can't go a year without thinking about logging in again. The experience was so unique and unfortunately will never happen again.

Pretty much all of the Might & Magic games, Eye of the Beholder I; Pools of Darkness; Curse of the Azure Bonds... Morrowind + the expansion packs (I loved the way the details on the map updated as you explored an area).

Unfortunately, going back is just never the same for me. I tried going back to World of Warcraft for a few hours after being gone for 5 years and it's just... sad. Everything is different. The magic is gone. All the friends I had are gone. I wouldn't even dream of logging back in to EverQuest now.

The same does not always hold true of single player games (although I'm still very wary of replaying old games). I just recently played Final Fantasy Tactics again on my iPad and it was a blast. Plus my girlfriend was really into watching it too. But you have to be careful. Some games age well, others are better left memories.

So use an emulator and play them with better graphics than your ps2 ever put out.

This might be the longest I have gone without taking another run through KoTOR.

I still long for the BG games. THey were like the gold box games, only a billion times better.

Tough call. My knee-jerk response is Call of Pripyat because it had the greatest variety of weapon/armor modification options and allows the player to remain "in the zone" at the completion of the storyline. However, my "time played" for CoP is only 26 hours, compared to 54 for SoC and 66 for CS (which I would list as my lowest preference). Honestly, though ... I believe I'd probably gravitate back to the original. I think it had a better story.

Well, you HAVE been playing SWTOR, which is practically the same thing in the most important respects.

Shinobi for the PS2, Final Fantasy Tactics (the old one. War of the Lions lags on the PSP), maybe the old Tenchu games.

IN a way yes but I do miss that pause button and I had better control of the companions...

I'm back in EQ...was gone for a while, I think just before Underfoot expansion came out. My friend and I came back because of the housing and the new guild hall. We both loved the housing in EQ2 and Vanguard. Since I'm the guild leader (was made guild leader when the old guild leader and most of the high levels left for greener pastures a few years ago) I figured I should get busy with our new guild hall. I've been having a blast decorating that and doing some AA grinding in between...not leveling past 85 until I have another ~600 AAs ( I fell way behind in AAs before we quit).

PS I haven't been into single player console games since Nintendo 64...I prefer MMORPGs with people I can interact with. :)

I've had the itch to replay FF Tactics lately, and will likely download it this Sunday. I would also love to get my hands on a copy of Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, but fat **** chance of that.

What's the deal with EQ these days? I remember loving that when I was a pup. Dal used to let me run around as an Iksar. Got my beast lord to 30ish. It's also where my screen name comes from for damn near everything.
