When speaking on why they haven't remade it, the CEO [Yoichi] Wada clarified that he feels the current slew of titles in the franchise have not surpassed their popular predecessor in terms of quality. He stressed that while they hopefully would manage this in future, if the team were to remake Final Fantasy VII before this was achieved, then the Final Fantasy franchise "would be done with". That's an interesting statement for a CEO to make. |

Seems very Japanese to me. But I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment. |

Except 6 is better than 7. Hell, 4, 5, 9 and 12 are better than 7. |

Wait. What? Are you kidding me? Where is that head exploding guy? Is wada taking pointers from George Lucas or something? |

8 was great too! .... as long as you ignored the game and all you did was play Triple Triad |

I am confused, are we using the Japanese numbering or the American? |

Well...all of the Final Fantasy games have been released here in the US under their proper Japanese numbers, so they are technically the same now. |

I didn't buy any of the re-releases. In order my favorites were the one that introduced Magitek; Cloud v. Sephiroth and the one with Cecil the Paladin/Dark Knight. |

FF7 is an overrated game with crappy graphics, FF6 was way better imo, and had better graphics too. |

Spoiler: The passage of time has not been kind to our interpretation of how good the graphics are in FFVII, but when it came out you didn't hear one single person on the planet saying 6 looked better. They were saying, "HOLY **** what's that awesome looking game?? Take my money!" There's a big difference between better graphics and your personal style preference. |

Now, come on, Lenas. How many online "comics" do you see stealing FF7 graphics? Clearly an indication of inferior quality. |

3d in itself does not make graphics automatically better, FF7 is a blocky 3d mess with awful texture quality, while FF6's 2d sprites are sharp and detailed in comparison. |

No SNES sprites are sharp or detailed. They're 16 bit sprites that are a blocky, undefined mess. Even in comparison to PS1 3D they're not. And my god compared to today's Sprite work they are ugly as sin. |

FF7's graphics were technically impressive at the time, being an early push into 3D, but they have most definitely not held up to the test of time well at all. I'd rate FF6's better overall as a result, though I do remember being impressed by FF7 at the time. It's a style vs technology thing. Better tech doesn't always mean better graphics. This shows, strongly, in the non-combat 3D models in FF7. |

Yes FF7 had great graphics for its time, but that's really all it had going for it. Honestly 6 had pretty good graphics for its time as well. However 6: Has Characters I can care about, and are unique from each other. They also have their own storylines, skills and desires and interests, (where half the cast of 7 just exists and don't really bring anythiing to the table) A Story Line I can follow, (Where FF7 is kinda hard to follow- see movie above) The best ending in the world (Where FF7 just kind of ends -see movie above) 7 admittedly has the cooler villian, maybe. Its hard to understand his motivations (where it's obvious Kefka is just Choatic evil, bat**** insane), but he looks cool right and that's all 7 has going for it anyway. |

I don't care if you thought it was good, from where I sit, that was just.. silly. |

All Final Fantasy games have their story and plot get run over by a train. Final Fantasy 6 is no exception. All of the sudden I'm on this floating island (where the **** did this come from?) fighting this giant apocalypse beast (what does this have to do with the story?) and trying to stop the big bad guy from moving some statues to take over the world, and then... One of my characters is in a coma for a year, and where the hell did everybody else go? |
