After the Fox News Idiotic "Terrorist Simulator" comments of the last week, I guess the net is riled up again.

Of course it is, it says Fox News at the bottom, doesn't it?

I appreciate that the guy attempted to define "that you are not a terrorist", but as always, Fox managed to put a very well spoken character that agrees with their viewpoint up against a damn blogger who stumbled all over himself. I do love the citation that "it has been proven that video game violence translates directly into real world aggression and violence". There are quite a few studies that actually prove that video games are a very positive outlet to express violence, which translates into less aggression and actual violence in the person playing them. However, those studies don't prove Fox's point. :)

"But you get to be a terrorist and kill people."

This is exactly one of the reasons why I refuse to watch the news. Of course it's one-sided. The news always is. The only time they actually aren't one-sided is if it's a direct attack or major catastrophe on the U.S., and the only reason why they aren't one-sided at that time is the same reason they are one-sided every other time: ratings. They pander to the people whose opinions and (especially) fears they can easily manipulate. But as soon as an attack/catastrophe happens it turns around and bites them in the *** because those same people can't take bad news/fear mongering and so have to be coddled to to keep them watching and sane.

It's sensationalized crap. I don't understand why people who can form their own opinions and have some self-respect will watch it. The only reason I can come up with is that it's a convenience. It's convenient to sit on a couch with some snacks and sit back and tolerate the news. For me, no amount of convenience is worth that.

You pretty much sunk the battleship with that one. Think about all the problems in society that stem from sense of entitlement, instant gratification and the like. They all are convienent, even convienent to the ends where they don't accomplish the same means.

People want convienent reward of hardwork in addition to the tangible benefits. This is impossible.
