Halo 4 comes out tomorrow, which would explain why I keep seeing Master Chief popping up in youtube commercials everywhere. Anyone interested in grabbing this title? Is this a masterful continuation of a timeless game series? Or is it just another cash grab, milking the franchise?

If you have an hour and a half or so, watch "Forward Unto Dawn". The promo web series for Halo 4.

Its actually pretty good.

I played a... preview... and I am just about prepared to call it the best Halo game ever.

Good timing, is it worthwhile for me to go buy Halo 1-3 used?

I'd say your time would be better spent reading a wiki over the plot points, watching the YouTube mini series and then playing 4.

I've only heard good things. I trust the penny arcade guys gaming cred, here's their review:

I told you that I would never take a job at 343 Industries, because their task was impossible; it’s all the more startling, then, that they managed to accomplish it.

It’s the best Halo campaign of the series, I don’t think there’s really going to be much of a debate there. Because the human brain is a Goddamned, stupid anachronism and barely up the **** task, if Halo 4 had simply been as good as the previous games it would have been a failure. It is, in actual fact, a game that will make you give a **** about Halo. I had more narrative buy-in after the first ten minutes than any other game in the series managed to generate by the end.

When Bungie checked one of these things in, their games were “Halo” virtually by definition. That wasn’t the case for this team. They had to earn it. And by God, they did.

I maintain that Halo 1 is still a very fun campaign experience. I never played the remastered version for 360, but I read it was just a graphics overhaul. I think it would at least be worth a rental.

2 and 3 - watch them on YouTube.

ODST and Reach were better than 1 to 3. But that being said, I have loved all the games.

Better than 1-3 though? Get outta here. ODST was good because it brought back health packs, was harder, and had cool guns, but the story... Ugh.

Short. Very good and oh so pretty.

I turned the game off last night and it's showing that I only played like 30 minutes. But, man, it felt like 2 hours. I died so much. Was playing 3 person co-op, does that spawn more enemies?

One thing that bugged me was that apparently running over weapons doesn't refill your ammo, you need to pick up replacements. Sucks having 20% rifle ammo and then picking up another one with like, 25% :suicide:

For Storm Rifles, (Plasma Rifle) and Plasma Pistols, this is the same as Halo 1-3. They never had "ammo"

But the stuff with ammo, you get ammo :)

There are only three or four alien weapons that have ammo and it is rare to find Spartan weapons in the field. I also believe when you are playing on Legendary, ground weapons always have less ammo.

Loving the Rail Gun...

Anyone know how many Spartan Ops missions they are going to put out? How many weeks worth before it goes away?

There's at least 5 confirmed episodes and they don't "go away" - they're always available for you to play. The Random Matchmaking part of Spartan Ops only uses the current week's episode is all, I imagine they'll cycle through them when it gets to the end of it.

What I meant by go away how long before we stop getting new missions. Still, that is cool.
