Installed this the other day. I played around with a "large biomes" style world that's almost entirely underwater Food and wood have been a challenge but im finally starting to get a good supply of both.

I don't know if its my java, (which seems to be up to date) or this version of minecraft, but i'm having a lot of bugginess with this update. For example chests don't want to open properly and I'm getting a lot of memory leaks/crashes.

I've been playing a lot of Feed the Beast (beta) the last couple of weeks. It's got a lot of neat features, and it's fun to expand the world, both in terms of world generation and possibilities.

Re: your crashes, I have the latest Oracle java and I haven't had any crashes or other weird behavior in 1.4.5.

32 or 64. I should probably go back and install 64 bit windows.

I've run 32-bit on my work laptop and 64-bit on my home pc without issues. You could also try installing Optifine, which optimizes the Minecraft executable.
