If you've played Minecraft, you may be aware of the strong modding community associated with the game. Various fan developers have added new items, game mechanics, UI enhancements, mobs, and even other dimensions to explore. Feed the Beast is a collection of mods designed to provide a greatly enhanced experience compared to vanilla Minecraft. If you are familiar with Tekkit, FTB is very similar. The main difference between Tekkit and FTB is that FTB has the various mod authors' official permission, and Tekkit does not.
If you are interested in playing on a Feed the Beast server, I have set one up at
108.60.193.106:27105.
The current version of FTB we are running is:
Direwolf pack v5.2.0To set up FTB, follow these steps:
1. Go to
http://feed-the-beast.com/#download_wrapper and click the "Download exe" button. This will download the FTB launcher, which replaces the vanilla launcher.
2. Once you have downloaded the launcher, run it. In the bottom right corner is a dropdown that says "Select Profile". Open this menu and click on Create Profile. Enter your Minecraft account credentials here.
3. On the left side, find the "Direwolf20" modpack.
If the modpack says v4, then you will need to force it to version 5. There is a dropdown on the right side of the window that says "Recommended". Select this dropdown and change it to "5".4. Click Launch to begin downloading the Direwolf20 FTB pack. If you get an error configuring Minecraft once it is downloaded, exit all of the windows and try again. It should work the second time.
5. At the main Minecraft menu, select Multiplayer, then Add Server. Enter "108.60.193.106:27105" as the address with any text as the description. Then click Join Server.
