So, The Banner Saga: Factions has launched a public release, now. It's not the final product for the Kickstarter, but is an intermediate Multiplayer-only product that is being used as a test bed for combat balance and such, as well as a sort of demo for the forthcoming single player game and a F2P product in its own right. And it's pretty good. They're still banging out some infrastructure/lag type issues with the wider release that launching out of beta has given them, but the gameplay is solid and the learning curve is much improved by a tutorial that's been added since the last time I played (at the start of the beta). Matches with friends work, and it's fun. Anybody else playing? I think, if I'm reading my friends list right, Dalantia has logged in at least once... |

Well, my first impressions are poor, to say the least. Considering that it gave me a version mismatch pop-up for a client install that had JUST finished downloading, my only option was disconnect, and then the client hung. So maybe I'll never investigate it again. |

If you want to fix the client mis-match (which, gah, I can't believe they haven't ironed out after a week), right click the game and select properties. In the "Betas" tab, change the drop-down to "Opt Out of All Betas." It's an artifact of when it was in beta. I didn't realize it was happening for fresh downloads, or I'd have warned you. |
