Hi Glade Denizen Tech Minds.

My router goes down frequently. This is a new occurrence, just started happening a few days ago. All the cord connections seem reasonable secure. In case the router is about to be a paperweight, what recommendations do you have? I have AT& service and an AT&T router at this point, about two years old.

Save your router configuration, do a factory reset. (Power it down & unplug it for 30 minutes too) Make sure its not overheating. If none of those work, try updating the firmware.

oh. check your security logs too.

Worst case scenario, replace it. 30-120$ depending on bells and whistles.

edit: Is it doing wifi too? is your network secured?

Do you own the AT&T router or is it leased from AT&T?

If it's a lease, call AT&T and demand a tech replace it. If you own it, weigh how much your time troubleshooting is worth vs. purchasing a new one.

I've never had issues with Linksys or Netgear routers, YMMV.

I own the router. It does wifi. It does wifi when the rest of it isn't working. It is password protected. Thanks for the tips guys, I'll be doing that all that I can later.

I had oral surgery yesterday. It is short attention span theater right now.
