Nokia is hoping hard for the Lumia to succeed.

Verizon's Windows Phone 8 devices could be delayed or canceled because Microsoft wont install their spyware - http://t.co/Q5bBHnnb

Windows Phone 8 live stream just happened announcing all the new features... My favorite? Kids Corner.

Finally I never need to worry about giving someone my phone and them seeing something I don't want them to. Kids Corner was made for parents, but it's basically a guest user, where you can specify what you want them to be able to use or do.

Why would you give your phone to someone to dick around with?

I dunno man, it happens a lot. Sometimes people just need to use your phone to make a call, sometimes they wanna see what Windows Phone is about. You've never had someone ask to use your phone?

I've never acquiesed to the request. I don't want their face/hand juice on my face.

Tomorrow on AT&T you'll be able to preorder a Lumia 920 for $99 with a free wireless charger, or an 820 for $49 and have them both by Friday. HTC 8X will be $99/199 for 8/16gb but not out until "before Thanksgiving."

The weight as one of the selling factors for me, personally. I hate having paper-light electronics.

Too heavy for what?

I have the opportunity to touch that phone, and many others, every single day. The weight (of any of them) never entered my mind as an issue.

Gizmodo's on a roll today. They might break a record for crappy journalism (if that is even possible).

That article smells like, "Hey, this is a really nice phone... but... I still wouldn't buy it.. because... it's too heavy! YES! It's TOO HEAVY! IT'S A TRAGIC DISASTER!", followed by a long silent hug of his iPhone 5.

The 920 is only 1.2 ounces heavier than my first generation HTC HD7, which is smaller.

After the terribad Surface review and now ***** about phone weight, I'm not sure I can read the site anymore.

Stoked that I'm getting the phone $100 cheaper than I thought, though.

I am glad Gizmodo has expanded into the politcal arena too....

I found CNN's "Which Mobile OS is Right For You" article to be actually very even-handed and spot-on.

Lol^ @ MS phone.

I'm really surprised that the 920 is priced so low, and I'm also surprised that the 8x is priced so high.

920, 32gb + wireless charger = $99
8X, 8gb = $99; 16gb = $199??

MS/Nokia must be paying some big subsidies.

MS/Nokia *really* want Windows 8, and Nokia Phones to be successful. They have a lot riding on it.

So why did they lock it to AT&T then?

Sorry for my repeated bumping, but my thoughts on the 920:

I've had it since Saturday morning and I'm in love with the handset. It feels extremely smooth in the hand, glass included, and the corners don't poke like I was worried they might. The weight is a complete non-issue and IMO overblown by reviews.

The screen is fantastic. Outdoor brightness levels are good enough to see every detail, and it's sensitive enough to use with gloves on if it's cold out. Everything is crisp, and there's no graphic blurring when moving around the start screen like there was on my old HD7.

The first party Nokia apps, some are amazing, some pretty dull. I'm having a ton of fun with one called Cinemagraph, basically lets you take a 3-4 sec picture, mask out the parts you don't want moving, and loops the rest. Animated gifs for life! Nokia drive is head and shoulders above the built in map directions, you can pick different voices for narration, have a 3D world view, etc. One nice benefit to all maps in WP8 now is that you can download your state(s) for offline travel.

Low light performance, absolutely great. Never had anything like it, even my 10MP digital camera doesn't take such good pictures in the dark. You can seriously shoot something with absolutely no light and it'll come out good.

Most other stuff is WP8 and not Nokia features so that's all covered in reviews everywhere else. Skype preview just came out today, gonna dick around with that some later.

Edit - My home screen setup

WP8 has screenshot functionality?
Wow, after the lengths they appeared to have gone through to make sure you couldn't do it in WP7.5 I'm kinda surprised.

Yep, lock button + windows key.

Wife's 820 just came this morning. I'll try to get some review comments out of her.
