Initial impression was very nice. The packaging for this headset, irrelevant as it may be, is pretty impressive. Paired up without hassle, as close to "plug and play" as you can get.

Pros:
Noise dampening seems to work well, eliminating office sounds and road noise in my car.
Bluetooth stereo support
Saves 8 pairing profiles
Real good volume
Choice of ear hook/ear gels for fitting
USB plug thats compatible with my iPhone car charger

Cons:
Power switch can be a little stiff

It's still new, but this is definitely the best-working BT headset I've used. I've had two others, both of which were ~$30, and they eventually broke down after a couple of months. We'll see how this one holds up.

I use bluetooth pretty much any time I'm outside of the house. I have tried a lot of headsets. I've come to the determination that the Plantronics 510 is the only headset for me. It's not pretty, but I do not care. It is very comfortable, has excellent voice quality, excellent battery life, and works flawlessly on any phone i've tried it on.

Possible cons:
Not very pocket friendly
Power buttons are not terribly user friendly (I don't use them much, so it's not a big problem)
Not very trendy looking (subjective).

Oh, and I also pair mine with my desk phone at work, which is a nice bonus.

Right now i'm using a BlueAnt V1 (65 on amazon right now). Bought it last september.



I was also going through the 30 dollar headsets every few months, so decided to upgrade to the next level. I looked seriously at everything in that price range, but the V1's voice activation drew me in (it's actually very convenient once you get used to it, I use it in the car all the time.)

So far it's hanging tough, and great sound quality.

Out of the box, pairing was seamless, Turned it on, put it in pairing mode, and my Droid and it synced up like Fred and Ginger.

Its light, comfortable, and can be worn with or without the ear hook. I tend to use the hook as I'm more used to having something there, as opposed to on the inside of my ear. But there are interchangeable little rubber dealies that can customize your fit.

Sound quality is excellent. Their NoiseAssassin technology works very well at eliminating noise going into the mic. Volume is sufficient for most calls, and incoming voice quality is outstanding as well. The miniusb charger works with my droid as well as my current car adapter. On a full charge, I'll get approx 4 hours of talk time, and it stays charged for a good period of time.

Cons? Well, it was kinda spendy. I got a discount through VZW when I bought my phone, so I got it for $79. Other than the price of admission, there really aren't any drawbacks to this little bugger.

I've got a Plantronics Discovery 925.



I like long booms; they pick up my mumbling tendencies best. I was skeptical about the earbud-only mounting, but I've never had a problem with comfort or a secure fit and retention, thanks to the design that includes a sort of "flap" that applies just enough gentle pressure to keep it secure and oriented properly. Comes with 3 sizes of bud gels to get the most comfortable fit for you.

The most innovative feature, IMO, is the carrying case. It carries a rechargeable battery in the case, and so you can keep your headset charge high for much longer, while it's slipped into your pocket, a laptop case, or (I suppose) a purse.

I picked up a $35 Motorola H390 at Walmart on my for a long business trip. It sounds really good, seems to have very nice battery life, paired easily with my Blackberry phone, my Macbook Pro, my Mac Pro, and my iPod Touch, and has been an all-around good purchase.

It sucks, the only thing that worked fine was pairing, otherwise the volume is very poor, I have a hard time hearing what anyone is saying when i'm driving and it fits horribly, I feel like if I move my head the tiniest bit it will fall off, I guess that's what I get for basing my purchase of the fact that it came in pink :/

It makes me miss my old Motorola H300, it may have been a bit bulkier but the sound quality/volume was great and it never felt like it was going to fall off, plus since it ran off a AAA battery it went forever, like 40 hours with the rechargeable batteries I used.

I have used the one Midgen uses, I have used the Motorolla H350 and now I am using Mus' old jawbone. I like the secure snug fit of the one Midgen uses, but I like the sleek feel of the jawbone.

Some Motorola thing, for me, but neither of the two up above. If I could find it right now, I'd tell you the model. And here I had just found it again after misplacing it for six months in the pocket of a sweater that I only wear for about two months out of the year.
