I does seem like MS is trying to make W8 the end-all OS. I think I prefer having different versions for different interfaces. But what do I know? I'm still using XP.

Not only that, but with
locate I can likely find the full pathname faster than anyone navigating through folder via the GUI. For me the advantage of a GUI is that it's better at displaying information. I'm a big emacs fan but for immersive Java coding I prefer Eclipse. (Hmmm...my FF dictionary doesn't like 'immersive'.)
