The Glade 4.0

So I've had iphones ever since they came out. No complaints. I'm not an apple fanboy but they are good, good devices.

Contract time is upon me. I've currently got a 4, didn't bother going up to the 4s. Again, zero complaints. But I'm somewhat itching for something new. LK did not have much success and did not enjoy her Galaxy so kind of wary of them. The HTC line looks interesting but I admit I'm unfamiler with them. Don't think I know anyone who has one.

Any recommendations or phones? I'm open to suggestions right now. If I can't get a good feel on something else, I'll most likely move up to the 5.

If you're looking to jump to Android, I'd recommend a Nexus 4.

You didn't specify what carrier you use. Nexus 4, for example, will not work on Sprint or Verizon (or any CDMA/LTE network). Though there are rumors and rumblings of a CDMA capable Nexus 4 in the works.

I have an HTC One X that I am pretty happy with. It's got a very good camera (which is why I bought it) and a HUGE screen. It's not as big as a Galaxy note, or a tablet, but it is noticeably larger than an iPhone.

I also came from having an iPhone for a long time. I had the original and the iPhone 4 before I made the switch. Moving to Android was....different. There are some features that are brilliant, and I kept thinking, why hasn't Apple done this yet. Then there are some things that are so simple to do on an iPhone, that were frustrating to do on the HTC. For the most part, most of those problems have gone away, since I updated to Jelly Bean OS.

iOS 7 is rumoured to be a big change in terms of look, but I havent heard much about big features, so if you want a real change it might be time to leave the fruits ;-p

This is what I'm leaning towards. A buddy of mine just got one and I got to play around with it. It is pretty sweet.

I can't go into a lot of detail without getting in trouble, but there are a bunch of new devices about to hit the market over the next few months. Many of these I would qualify as 'next generation' in terms of capabilities and features.

Prices for current models will be dropping soon, as the new devices are released.

One quick tip. There is no task switcher menu button. Just double tap the home button to bring up the list of apps. Single tap to switch. Slide off the screen to 'kill'.

Also, one of my favorite things about it the custimizeable app drawer. You can stack up to 16 apps in a 'folder'. This makes organizing them much easier, thus less flipping through pages and pages of apps to find the one you want.

just drag one app icon over another. Tap the new icon to open the new folder, then tap the title bar to re-name it.

Once you have your apps organized the way you want them in the app drawer, you can tap and hold them, then drag them to the top of the screen to the 'shortcut' hotspot to make a link to that folder on one of your homescreens.

I'm still warming up to Blinkfeed. It'a a Flipboard style graphical information feed. I am still more comfortable with headlines and thumbnails than the graphical tiles. however as I have been customizing the feed sources, I find it getting 'better'.
