So I decided not to use the recovery partition; but everything I am reading lists a clean reload of windows vista as being a lot more complicated than anything previous.

Anyone have any tips? or is it a simple "drop in the OS disk, boot to it.. delete the recovery partition and the main partition and recreate those drives and GO!"

I am trying to get this done within the next day so I can continue my class on Friday night.

More complicated? News to me. Go for it.

The mechanics of what Vista installs is more complicated, in some ways, but it's completely transparent to the user.

If you are going to reload the OS, why not upgrade to.W7?

This.

Especially since with an .edu email address you can get it for $30.

I'm not sure that, in itself, works. I was looking at the Windows 7 page to see how that $30 deal worked, because one of the faculty members had asked about it.
