Crazy, adventurous, and ambitious new strides in user interface and input/output for computers and technology have been hitting fast and hard lately. Nintendo might have kicked it off with the Wii, and gotten people thinking about interfacing with our tech again. Microsoft and Sony followed suit with their own stuff, but aside from Kinect 2.0, have remained pretty quiet on that front lately. Oculous Rift, Leap Motion, and OMNI, on the other hand, have all in the last year or so promised us crazy new advances bringing us closer to virtual reality or other cool science fiction. This, though, has been the one to catch me the most off-guard yet. The Myo. They're reporting 30,000 pre-orders to date, have gotten press coverage from some pretty major sources, and are working with $14 million in investment funds. They're promising a retail product in early 2014 for $150. Check out their website at Thalmic Labs. |

I understand how it can interface with a computer through a programmable set of commands, but how does the interface with things like the helicopter / snowboard goggles / etc work? Edit - bluetooth API's, I guess. Looks neat. |

Haha yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. Definitely some cool tech there. Love the live UI for skiiing/sports. |

So, for everything except the videogaming portion, that looks cool and is the first "alternative" UI that's come across that looks nice. For games? **** that, just give me my controller. |
