Post subject:  Adware/Spyware programs

I am looking for a new adware and spyware programs.

I have seen that the newest Lavasoft AdAware is a resource hog and am looking for a couple of decent ones. Preferrably that are free.

Any suggestions?

Yeah, the new AdAware is horible, I had to stop using it too. At the moment i'm using Spybot - search & destroy which isn't near as bad as the new AdAware.

You might also take a look at Microsoft Security Essentials

Seconded on this one...it's quite good.

(Although it can take two or three scan-throughs before it manages to get all of those slippery buggers.)

I use this and have been very satisfied with it. It's definitely not a pain in the butt like most AV programs tend to be.

Two thumbs up. But, those aren't particularly preventive,, which I get the feeling is what he's looking for.

I am actually looking for something that does essentially what adaware did before it bloated into the mess it is now. :-) I have downloaded malwarebytes and Microsoft Security essentials for now though

Is Spybot Search and Destroy still any good?

I only like to use "Avast!" on Talk like a Pirate day.
