This seems like an inexpensive way to get pretty much everything on your PC up on the screen. I have a PC laptop, PC desktop, IPad, Android phone, etc - all of which can run Chrome. Supposedly, if you run chrome you can show your browser on your TV through an HDMI port. $35. Anyone tried this? Is there a better way to do this? I'd prefer to find an app that just shows my screen on the TV. This would enable other programs not housed in Chrome. Thoughts? |

Doesn't need to be in chrome, the application just needs to have Chromecast support. For example, Plex on android and screencast videos to your TV. It's a great, cheap device for any non-smart TV. |

You can 'cast' a tab in Chrome to the device, but I don't find using it that way particularly satisfying. It seems a little laggy when used this way. Where the chromecast really shines is when using it in combination with one of the supported apps on a tablet or smartphone to find the content you want to play and then re-directing the stream to your TV. Its too bad Amazon decided they needed to fragment the market further. With Amazon video, the CC would be perfect. |
