Wish me luck! If I don't report back by Monday, send a rescue team with some thermal paste, a phillips' head, and a blue BIOS chisel!

Update #1: Successfully* transferred the guts of the c2012 computer to the c2008 computer's case. Managed not to screw up the RAID. Worst case scenario of being stuck without a working (desktop) computer averted.

* The c2008 case is a lovely Lian Li which is a lot tighter to work in than I remembered. The case is nice on the build quality front, but pre-dates modular PSUs and 2.5" SSD formats. Hard drives are dangling (fortunately lightweight and with no moving parts) within the 3.5" HDD bays, PSU protrudes several inches from the back since the modular cables don't all pack in neatly to one corner of the PSU where the cable-routing hole is on the case. I could use the 2008 PSU, but would be limited to one GPU (only 12 pins of PCIe power on the non-modular power supply), and since we're talking GTX 660 Ti's, I'd rather have both. FrankenPC it is.

Starting in on the new one, proper, now.

Okay, because Google doesn't like inline linking its images, I'm trying this as a shared album, instead. My running commentary can be found in the image notes, and I've indexed the filenames to keep the order right.

I've had a chance to run a few benchmarks. Rise of the Tomb Raider is probably my most taxing released game, and I pull 59.12fps on max settings at 2560x1600 on the benchmark before even touching overclocking. Which means I'll probably hold off on overclocking. :D Star Citizen went from about 15-20fps on the persistent universe to a solid 35+ and my Arena Commander performance in Star Citizen is pretty close to pegged at 60fps (I think that's after dropping down to 1920x1200 -- though changing resolutions in Star Citizen sometimes doesn't stick right, so that might be full res), which means that I might play around with some video recording for it when I have time.

Someone manage those cables! Your desk is stressing me out.

Yeah. I need to finalize the placement on a few things, first. Totally noted, though, and fair. Guilty as charged.

I'm fine with the cables, but there's not enough dust.

Nifty rig. What kinda keyboard and mouse are you using there?

I have those same speakers (although I rarely use them - I mostly use headphones these days).

I think I have the same keyboard as well.

BTW, I stopped being interested in Google Photos because of the inability to directly link/embed them.

I've since moved everything over to Flickr, which actually has a BBCode share option, and it's fairly easy to extract the URL to directly embed a photo from there without any additonal buffoonery...

I recently (early/mid December) re-arranged the room to accommodate a bigger Oculus Rift playing area. Up until then, I had my desk making a U with the wall in the corner it currently sits. When I moved the desk, I dusted the 6 years of accumulated whatever. Hasn't had time to properly season again, yet.

The keyboard's an ancient (but still awesome) old-style Logitech G-15. The mouse is a Logitech G502 that replaced my Cyborg R.A.T. MMO7 about four months ago because the RAT was having intermittent issues where it would stop tracking until you picked it up and put it back down a couple times. Not sure what was going on, there. But when I was looking to replace/troubleshoot the RAT, I noticed that Logitech finally made a wired desktop mouse with the dual-mode scroll wheel (either indexed clicking or smooth spinning, which is fantastic for long-scrolling webpages and PDF documents, because you can spin it once and let it roll) which I've adored for ages in my laptop mouse, so it was a handy excuse.

Is that a full size Arc Reactor, or just your CPU cooler? My God, that thing is massive! Looks cool all lit up, though.

Very nice build. Thanks for sharing the pics. I recently bought a new rig, myself. First one I've ever done with water cooling. I haven't bothered to take pics, or do any cable management, though. I'm still not sure I like the current layout of the room/desk/PC, so I may change things up a bit, soon. I'll worry about cable management, then.
