I know we had this topic on the old board, but now I'm actually in the market to replace my mouse, and thought a repeat would be nice.

What mouse do you use, and do you like it?

I have had one of the Intelimouse Explorers for quite a while, but it's finally about ready to die.

I bought a Razer Mamba. Way overpriced, but I love the ergonomics of it (texture and shape), it's precise enough for me, great mechanical but smooth scroll wheel, tons of buttons and the versatility between cordless and corded.

But still, overpriced. It's the best thing they had when I bought my Laptop at the store, so I threw it in since it was all 0% financing.

I've thought about getting one of those- they do look amazing. But yes, quite pricey.

I'm using one of these. It is awesome. Weight customizable and the free spinning wheel cannot be beat.

Logitech Trackman Wheel. I prefer that style of mouse, especially since I have a comfy chair and lean back, trackman on the arm of the chair. Can't do that with a standard style mouse :)

I did have a G5 previously and was happy with it. The Mamba was just because they didn't have any G5's or Logi's at BB in store.

I really like Logitech Trackmans, but my favorite design doesn't have drivers for Windows 7. Probably because it's very old.

I currently use the same mouse as Darkroland, the logitech G9. Great for gaming. I like that you can save multiple profiles to it (so you can even use it on other PCs without changing anything) and how it has 5 levels of dpi (sensitivity/smoothness) that you can change on the fly. Which I use all the time when going from a sniper to a pyro/soldier/etc.

I also like that it has customizable weights as well as two different changeable grips to fit your style. Since I am a "claw" mouser, I use the thinner "gamer" grip.

Wired, Razer Habu. Only thing close to an original Microsoft Intellimouse I could find - big, comfy, fits my hand properly, tracks well. On my second one - the build quality on the cable is poor and it wears out.

Corrected after Sassies post - I have a HABU not a diamondback. oops ;-p

I've been using the Microsoft Habu, it's basically razer laser mouse guts inside a Microsoft housing which is very close in form factor to the original Intelimouse Explorer, that was my main reason for getting it because my previous mouse one of those.

Not sure what features the G5 had, but yes, I believe you are correct. I think this is the upgrade to the G5. In fact I dont even see the G5 listed as a current product on their website.

Yeah, I looked closer on their site, and it looks quite similar. My guess is that we're right; it's the update to the G5 line. That's incredibly sexy. I love the chassis on the G5. It fits my hand like a glove. I think I may upgrade my G9 at some point just because they're not really supporting it with additional frames like I'd hoped and the G500 looks like it's caught up with the features I love.

For all my affection for Apple products, the one area in which I find them still lacking is their mouse design.

Logitech is and probably shall always be my first choice for mice. And the simpler the better; the plain ol' two-button scroll-wheel laser mouse is my all-time favorite.

I've owned a couple of others, but a mouse must first and foremost fit my hand comfortably, and the wilder the designs get (i.e., the farther from that original design they stray), the less comfortable they are for me. They're unfortunately getting damn hard to find, though.

The next best Logitech design I've found is the Logitech LX3.

I rather enjoyed the LX3 (not as much as my precious classic design, but it's largely comfortable), but it died on me recently. Well, I supposed "died" is too harsh a term, but the connection kept skipping, and a mouse is useless to me if its tracking is not consistent.

I've yet to be sold on wireless mice; the battery usage is a mild issue, more theoretical than anything else, but the biggest problem is that I don't trust the connection to be flawless. If I can run across a decently-priced Bluetooth mouse (that's not an Apple Mighty Mouse), I'll likely give it a try, but the 2.4 GHz wireless mice give me fits. I think it's a combination of the equipment around which I work constantly, and myself.

One thing that I will never purchase again is a Microsoft mouse. Hate hate hate hate hate them. I literally cannot stand their design. I made the mistake of purchasing one a few years ago (I never purchase a mouse in a box; I have to lay hands on it first) and I knew it wasn't terribly comfortable, but it was 4am and desperately needed and it was the only one Walmart had in stock. Big mistake, will not repeat.

I use that LX3 at work.

The G5 is still my favorite mouse ever. side to side tilt and easy access thumb buttons... SO. MUCH. WIN.

I have left tilt set to "back" and the big thumb button set to "end". Makes scrolling through posts and surfing the net vastly better.

So much so, I'm going to leave it connected to the box, and just use the naga for gaming.

If you ever need to replace it you might look into that G500 I linked. It's very similar but with a few new features, including some extra thumb buttons and a switch to toggle between smooth scroll and ratchety goodness on the wheel.
