I want my own website. I have no clue where to start, but I'm willing to learn.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You can't go wrong with Wordpress. The platform is extremely user-friendly and you can avoid code 100% while still being able to do some cool **** through the use of free plugins. I use it every day developing websites for everything from doctors to surf shops.

Make sure you understand the difference between a post (typical blog, updated dynamically) and a page (static):

Isn't that like livejournal.com? They only give you 3gb of space. I'll need more for pics, videos, mp3s, etc.
That might be a good place to start though. Thank you Lenas.

3gb of space because the hosting is free, yes. If you want more space, you'll need your own hosting. If you have your own hosting, you'll need a domain name to tie it to.

Domains are generally $5-9 for a year. Basic file hosting packages are usually $5-10 a month. I recommend HostGator for hosting options, I've been using them for years and no complaints.

If you decide to go this route, I'll offer my time to set up a wordpress install for you np np.

Wow, you get 3GB for free now days? Last time I was setting up a free site it was something like 50MB.

What a time to be alive!

Thanks Lenas. I poked around there a little bit and saw that I could add video hosting for $59 a year and a few other things. I definitely want more than just a blog, and after looking a little bit I can see what you mean about wordpress.
As soon as I figure out exactly what I want I may take you up on your offer if it still stands; thank you.

Yeah I'm aware. :)
I just want all of my stuff in one place. I go back and forth from FB, Glade, YouTube, and Support Forums.
Just want it all in one place and for it to be more personalized.

He's referring to Geocities.com. Went down the tubes, so to speak, a few months ago.

Good luck with your site.
