Post subject:  Adding Ram

The last time I did this, the choices were a lot simpler.

My desktop (dual core 2.4 GHz Pentium) has 4 slots, 2 of which have 512 Mb 667 ram modules in them.

I saw a nice deal on Newegg for 2 1 Gb 667 ram modules.

Is there anything I need to worry about compatibility between the old ones and the new? Are there certain brands I should just stay away from?

As I recall, with a dual core, 4 slots means each core can access equal amounts of ram (I could be way off), so this way I'd have 1.5 Gb available to each core.

Advice welcome.

The only real consideration, you've already covered. The 667 is the important part, and if you got faster RAM it'd have to be down-clocked to match whatever the slowest stick in the system was.

I find that Corsair and Kingston have always been reliable.

Cool deal. The ram on sale was Corsair.

Thanks for the help, Lenas.

Buy the RAM. Corsair is sweet, and you've matched speeds already.
