Getting a new PC soonish. I want it to last the next four years. I want to spend no more than 1k.

Keep in mind I am not that swift.

Tell me what to get...feel free to use cyberpower to help me.

I have not been this clueless about what to buy in a long time.

What is the expected usage profile? A gaming rig isn't going to either a) come in under 1k or b) last four years. Do you want the hardware configuration to remain static for the entire four years, or do you foresee upgrades? etc...

Is there anything you feel might be okay to salvage from your current computer? DVD burner, 7200 RPM HDDs, keyboard, mouse, monitor etc.? Or are you looking to retire the old computer to the kid's room intact?

Any brand loyalties that would cause preferences we should know about? (Intel/AMD, ATi/nVidia, etc.)

Just want something that will last. This current PC has lasted me the last four years. Up until Champions came out I have been able to run pretty much everything. I have no preferences.

I am just getting the PC, no monitor or anything like that.

Get the 4 gigs of 1600MHz RAM for $19 more. What's your monitor resolution, and do you think you might upgrade to a 1080p (1920x1080) or 1920x1200 monitor at some point? If so, the extra $35 for the Radeon HD 5770 might be a good choice for the increased pixel fill rate.

I have a 23 inch monitor, it is older but still in perfect working condition. I will not replace it until I have to.

Right, but what resolution is it? That's the pertinent thing when deciding how much oomph you'll want.

Dude, I am so blind I keep everything huge as it is. I ended up getting the above system for 903 with shipping...I am happy.
