ok so last night I went to boot up my computer and it gets stuck during loadup and is chirping like someone is holding a key down on the keyboard. It won't let me boot up as a result. I end up unplugging every USB item on the computer, external HD, mouse, keyboard...etc. I restart and everything loads fine. I then plug everything back in and the computer seems to work fine. After about a minute or so, I click on IE and load a website...upon the site loading (just tried to load yahoo's main page....I see infinite = being typed into the search box. Just for S's and G's, I click in the address box and it does the same thing. At this point, I assume something is wrong with my keyboard so I unhook it and hook up another keyboard. After about a minute, it does the same thing. What the heck is going on????? Would love some advice! Thanks in advance |

Try hooking up a non-USB keyboard and see what happens (I keep an old keyboard and mouse for just such situations). Switch the USB port that the keyboard is plugged into. Try several differnent ones. If this fixes it, check to make sure all the ports are properly connected to the mobo. Check your BIOS, tweak the USB settings (for instance if your have "legacy support" enabled, disable it and vice versa). Turn off and reboot the computer half a dozen times. If that doesn't work, do a repair installation of your OS. Sacrifice a chicken or goat, spreading the animal's blood on your CPU and keyboard. If none of the above work...could be a Mobo issue. Something similar happened to me, but it was so long ago, I can't remember what fixed it...I just know that the above is typical of what I do when this kind of stuff happens. |
