So I have been having this issue and I sincerely am getting really frustrated and contemplating looking into other High speed internet connection options... I have Cox Cable for my ISP and my connection will be fine and have no issues. But when I try to download a DLC for a game on XBL, I am constantly getting disco'd. Just trying to download Sequence 13 for AC2: every 3 minutes I get dropped. I am paying for the next to highest tier of service, and they just keep telling me "it must be your XBox" which I know is not the case since I just bought a new frigging XBOX. I am going to try with a new Cat 5 cable.. but I am going to need to look into other options I think. |

Have you tried the 360's network troubleshooting stuff? does the 360 report any issues? It's been a while since I've looked at it, but I believe the 360 expects you to enable UPnP on your NAT router (which is a questionable thing to do) so it can make some config changes (port forwarding I believe). |

It could be your xbox, cable modem, or router.. none of which have to do with Cox's signals themselves. |

I will need to look into this... The only reason I think that I can believe it is not the box is because it is happening with two seperate consoles. I will TS more this weekend. |

Running two 360's could be problematic, especially if you expect to have both of them online at the same time. I just did a quick google search and found some posts where folks found ways to run two 360's. Solutions involved such whackyness as putting the 360's in the "DMZ" (if your router supports it), manually forwarding ports to one and using UPnP for the other (not sure how that would work). I'm not advocating any of those (i've never tried to do what you are doing). Might be worth a call to xbox live support (shudder). |

Or, it could be the DNS Redirection that a lot of ISPs use, Cox included. It's been known to mess up our VPN connections at work, for example, and we typically point our clients to a page such as this. I'm not terribly thrilled with some of their suggestions - the two OpenDNS servers they have listed there didn't work for the last person who tried - but it's worth a shot. |

Google Public DNS is a free, global Domain Name System (DNS) resolution service, that you can use as an alternative to your current DNS provider. To try it out: * Configure your network settings to use the IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers |

For clarification.. I am not using two xboxes at once. Only one, but I recently got a new XBox and took the old one offline. It is now an offline console. I simply mean that the problem migrated from one X-Box to another. Maybe it is time to get off the linksys router. Time to take the plunge and upgrade to an N capable router. |

Did you try the UPnP thing? Pretty sure the linksys should support that! What was the result of the 360's network testing? Is your 360 connected via wireless? If so, try switching to a cable temporarily and see if your problem goes away. |

1- Thank you for editing the title of the thread. 2- I tried Upnp: no go, Port Forwarding: nogo, DMZ: nogo. I think I finally got it working now... by using all three. Oh, and I needed to hard set an IP address for the damned thing. |
