The Glade 4.0

Just downloaded Chrome 3.0, haven't checked it out since the 1.0 version. Once again, looks really quick, they're claiming another 25% speed gain over 2.0.

They released 3.0 from beta on monday.

Using chrome for the first time because of this thread. I've felt Firefox has been getting bloated for some time now.

I am really digging Chrome so far.

3.0 runs pretty well. I do miss having 9 frequently accessed sites but I can get by with 8.

I'm still waiting for the old glade to fall of the list of frequently accessed sites. I wish you could delete it manually.

Is that the page that shows all the websites in little windows?

If so, if you hover the mouse over it for a second or two, a bar appears above one of the windows with an X you can click.

Ooh, maybe that's a new feature. I've been using the original Chrome version up until I upgraded last night.

I just leave Chrome's automatic update turned on. It's neat starting a browser and having new stuff randomly.

Ok this browser has cemented itself as my new browser of choice due to many features, but one in particular: It's very own task manager. Shift+Esc will bring up the browser's own task manager with how much resources every tab and plugin is using... and you can singly end-task each individually without killing your whole browser.

Pure. Awesome.

I've been using Chrome since we had the thread about it on the previous Glade. I still use Firefox for any pages where I think I might want NoScript active, but otherwise, Google is **** awesome.

Yeah, having each tab be a separate process is awesome. At work there are websites that cause IE to crash (I think it is likely caused by the web filter). When this happens all of my IE windows go down. Which has caused me a lot of hassle. If some website causes a crash with chrome, it is just that tab that crashes.

I hadn't really been keeping up much with Chrome in the last several months because I've been using Debian at work and Ubuntu at home. But it looks like they're now maintaining .deb packages for Google Chrome for linux here:

Early Access Releases

The packages they have available are actually the "unstable" (developer) version 4.0.x.x (4.0.211.2 as of today), but it seems to be working just fine under Debian (Lenny) so far. I'll give it a spin at home on Ubuntu this evening.

Scrolling and window resizing is still pretty rough in that the animation is far from smooth. But other than that cosmetic issue, it seems to be working well. They've definitely made a lot of progress on the Linux builds during the last 3 or 4 months.
