Would my standard DVDs look better on 720p than 1080p? I was watching one of the Clone Wars DVDs at my in-laws at 1080p, and they looked terrible (blocky, pixelated). Not sure if the TV settings were messed up, or if trying to stretch 480 lines to 1080 is just always going to look like shiznit and that stretching to 720 lines would look less shiznitty.

Hmm...unsure. Though I will say not all upscalers are made equal. The PS3 has the best upscaling I've seen, for instance, while regular DVDs don't look nearly as good when I task the 360 with upscaling them.

Yup, entirely dependant on the upscaler. If you were running a standard DVD player at 480P and letting the TV upscale it, that was probably the problem. I second FS on the PS3 upscaling, even regular DVD's look freaking great at 1080P on that thing.

Indeed, Stathol.

However, it baffles me even more that people find less adequate.
